Mid-South Naval Support Activity, Millington, TN
This is another military installation that operates two recreation facilities. While we stayed on the Naval Base at the Midway RV Park, we visited the Navy Lake Recreation Area. This was in December of 2009. This recreation area isn't located on base. However, it's only a few miles away. Finding it was straight forward following the directions posted here. Although it was the beginning of winter, about 50% of the RV sites were occupied. Normally, you can check in at the office or with the camp host (well posted).
The area and lakes are real nice, although it is near the end of the runway. However, the campgound itself is old and run-down. It appears they are trying to improve the conditions, as the office and community room were in the middle of a complete renovation. There's two loops to the campgound. The RV sites in Loop "A" have water, 30,50A electric and sewer, with paved roads and concrete site pads. "Some" sites have a BBQ and picnic table. The sites in Loop "B" only have water and 30,50A electric with gravel roads and gravel RV sites. The sites in Loop "B" are $1 a night less and are closer to the lake. There's also an overflow area for RV's and a large open area for tent camping. They also have a few rental RV's on site.

While the RV Park is a little old and run-down, there is plenty to do at this recreation area. There's plenty of space and everything is spread out. There's numerous picnic areas and pavilions, that are great for unit or family activities. Plenty of room for baseball, football, and other types of group games. There's a playground, boat dock, boat ramp, and canoes for rent. Since the office was being renovated, we couldn't tell if they rented other types of boats. The bathhouse and laundry room is located in Loop "A" and is old and falling apart. There are 2 washers (75 cents) and 2 dryers ($1.25) availabe.
We felt the nightly RV site rental rates are a bit high for being a military benefit, especially sine the place is old and needs improvements. However, WiFi is available at all sites.
