Facility within the esteemed Coast Guard Academy campus. Named after the legendary Coast Guard hero Signalman First Class Douglas A. Munro. He is the only Coast Guard Medal of Honor recipient, earning the decoration in September 1942 at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. He was awarded it posthumously for heroism while leading a group of Higgins boats to evacuate a Marine battalion trapped by a larger Japanese force at Point Cruz. The evacuation was successful, with Munro using his own boat both for evacuation and to draw enemy fire from other boat. This hall is central to the academy's mission of training future leaders in maritime service. It houses classrooms administrative offices and spaces for cadets to collaborate and learn all while embracing the rich traditions of the Coast Guard. Rooms all are a pair of twin beds. There may be block out times when required to support inbound cadets and active duty on TDY duty. Price for leisure travel $75/night for retirees with reservations no more than one month in advance, active duty/inbound cadets on orders $52.
