> Great place to stay for visiting Chicago. > Not many sites, so recommend reserving well in advance. 24 hr sign in. > Only issue that we had with Reservations was that we made the reservation several months in advance for a 30amp site @ $19/night. Even got an email confirming that. But I happened to call the day before arriving to say we were going to be arriving late, and found out someone had switched us to a 50amp service at the higher price. The price and service difference were no big deal, but that someone had changed us with asking, and without needing to, wasn't right. However, when the discrepancy was pointed out, the staff immediately changed it without fuss. > They could pass out a better better map of installation. The one we received was geared for Navy Graduation Ceremony Visitors. It didn't show the Marina, didn't explain which buildings had facilities helpful to RV'ers. While we were there, there was road construction going on making it difficult to get to the Marina, but everyone was helpful with giving us directions. There are signs pointing to the RV campground, which is nice. The online map is very good: https://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrma/installations/ns_great_lakes/about/installation_guide/installation_map.html > Note: The Marina Office (Bldg 13) is just down the road from the campground. The laundry is inside Bldg 13, along with the rental & bait shop. The sewer dump (free) and propane (minimal charge) are next to the Marina Bldg - just check inside the bldg first. Water in summer is available at Beach House (Bldg 10) on the road between campground & Marina; in winter, water is available next to side entrance of the Check-in building (Bldg 62) - ask at front desk for assistance. Showers are available at the Field House (Bldg 440/441), just up the hill from the campground. >Navy Exchange, food court, and gas station are a block up from the Field House. There's also a McDonald's and two other food places near Bldg 62. Checkin desk can tell you about the many activities available (movies, etc) > The campground was clean, the cement pad was fairly level. The campground has a fantastic view of Lake Michigan. It was very quiet while we there. Lots of picnic tables, and nearby gazebo. Dumpster is a little inconvient. >The campground is very pet friendly... lots of area to walk the fur kids. Most pet owners seemed to be pretty good about picking up, only noticed one empty site where the previous camper apparently did not. >Lots of stores near the base... Walmart, Target, local grocery stores. Several RV service centers in the area. If need to rent a car, there is an Enterprise desk at the Exchange. >
