We have stayed at Holbrook many times in the past and have always had a pleasurable experience. This past time, for a week in late November, was no exception. The MWR staff members at the registration office are always friendly and very helpful. We have never had a problem registering or making reservations. This past stay was made exceptional by the camp hosts, Dock and Lori. It is obvious they take their duties seriously as they perform them meticulously and with pride. Instances are spotless shower facilities, organized functions, assistance with various RV maintenance troubles and even a clean pad swept clear of debris before your arrival. These camp hosts are keepers. Our only criticisms are the lack of sewage facilities and a non-DOD civilian access policy. Although the gray water can be discharged on the ground, the black water must be dumped at the convenient dump station. We have been told by the MWR Director, however, they are planning to upgrade the sites with sewage hookups in the future. Not sure when that will be, though. The other criticism is the policy allowing non-DOD civilians access to the campground. Hunting season seems to be the worst time for many local and out-of-state hunters set up camp and are up to all hours of the night and early morning. Other problems have been noticed with short stay non-DOD civilians. All-in-all, Holbrook is a wonderful place to spend one night or several weeks. Previous posts have explained its value. We will definitely return to this serene and friendly retreat.
