New York City Famcamp??

Does anybody remember about 2, maybe 3 years ago, a small, I think Army, military facility in NY city was downsizing and added some RV camping spots to the facility since it has some now unused space. They were minimal, maybe electric only, but were in the city! At the time we were full timing in a big DP and I was not interested in them, but tucked it away for future reference!
So now we are no longer FT and have a smaller rig and are going to be up in the area and it might be fun to RV in NYC!
But, I see it is not listed here so I am asking if anybody else remembers what I described and has any info on it! Please let me know if you do!!
Thanx in advance!

The only military base left in New York City is Fort Hamilton, located in Brooklyn near the Verrazano Bridge. As far as I know, it doesn't have any RV facilities, only an on post hotel. The closest military RV Park to NYC would be Round Pound, at West Point. I've stayed there many times and it's a really nice water and electric only campground, at a reasonable price. New York City is about an hour away and there is public transportation from the West Point area. Hope this helps!

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

Thanx Sarge3398, I appreciate your input. Since I posted I have found out that Ft Hamiliton is, as you say, and I have the phone number of the ops manager at the post hotel I was going to call just to see if he knew anything about it historically. I clearly remember (I believe) the issue, but it may have been a little longer then 2-3 years. But, clearly there is nothing available now.
I did run across Round Pond and glad to hear your endorsement!

Pamper yourself and take a day off - get a job for a day!!

We stayed at Earle Weapons Station in New Jersey and took the train into NYC. Very nice campground and very convenient. Hope to do it again this fall.
