Where are you now? was created by karylkoch
I know a lot of fulltimers and retirees, spend their winters in the south. I have just been wondering where do you go in the summertime? We are not in a military camp ground at this time, and are spending our summer in a seasonal site, near Rehoboth DE. With the price of gas, we felt it would be better to stay put. Since we did not want to homestead six months in a military campground, for the obvious reasons, we went to a private resort. Have many of you kept you traveling around to different areas limited by staying longer at a campground, because of the gas, like we are doing?

We are in Medford,Oregon. There are a lot of RV parks and the basic daily rate is about $25.00 a day.
We have been using a Mobile Home Park that aslo takes in RV's. The rate is $100.00 a week (full hookups and electric included). We like it much better as we have a fenced yard with a shed and we are not on top of neighbors. This is our third year here and enjoy it very much. We stay about three months before moving on.
Last year we wintered over in Savannah, GA area

Cape Cod Ma -- that's home. I'm going back on the road in a month or so. I generally travel most of the time from CG to CG (MCGs whenever I can) and sight-see and camp along the way. More often my stays are a week or less, sometimes two weeks in an area I like alot.

I'm actually preparing to "full-time sorta" again -- and am maintenancing the truck and camper. Had sold the house last year, but it fell out, then the RE market tanked. So, am "touching-it-up" again for another sale at the end of summer if we have any luck.

NOTE: Probably not considered a "fulltimer" actually, because I still have a home ... but when I go on the road, it's for weeks and months at a time. My wife is not retired yet, and we have one adult son still at home.

Foster Creek Campground at Charleston Naval Weapons Station. We are on our way back from Livingston, Texas where we got our Texas drivers' licenses and our MH and toad inspected. Tomorrow I go back to work as one of the two camp hosts at Onslow Beach on Camp Lejeune.

I think that travel is way down this year according to our month long travel through the southeast since the end of May. It does appear to be picking up some. Fly J's were not crowded and very little waiting if any at the RV lines.

We will be very pleased to park the MH tomorrow and let it sit for a while. We knew it was going to be expensive for fuel and planned for it. We adjusted by less eating out and staying as much as possible in military campgrounds.

We did not let the high cost of fuel keep us from enjoying our trip.

We have taken ourselves out of the fulltimer category as of the first of May this year. We had been spending a lot of time in the upstate foothills area of SC the last two years and have found a very nice 55+ mobile home community here in Taylors, SC and fineally got it all set up. We get free yard service including trimming and free garbage service. So we are very secure here and can still seasonally travel. Our next trip will be to The Grand Casino RV Park in Robinson, MS for our 50th annaversary on October 4th. Then back to Taylors for Christmas & New Year then down to Lake Okeeachobee in Southern FL for three months of fishing befor the place drys up. Then up to Marianna, Fl for a month of Crappie fishing in thet great 7 mile long Merritt’s Pond thats going to produce a world record White Crappie soon. Then back to Taylors. So you can see we are not giving up our traveling habits.
We are also going to join the southeast region of SMART and attend their quarterly get-togethers.
