Bob,

There's an article on this website ( here ) that discusses eligibility to utilize MWR facilities (including campgrounds. The article includes copies of all applicable regulations.

In my interpretation, the only mention of DAV eligibility is for 100%DAV. Bottom line - you usually need a valid military ID card, which a 100%DAV can obtain.

I'm 70% sc, both my wife and I carry MID's and have heard that's all we need(the ID)to get on any base for any reason(camping, shopping, gas, etc.). We've only camped at one MWR-so far, but enjoy several bases for shopping(keeps her happy). Check with each CG before you go to make sure they have space. You didn't mention if you had MID's or not. If not, being service connected, take the time to get one. Besides base access, they give you a secondary medical insurance for both of you.

Sorry it took sl long to reply. Looks like I will be getting u/i status for my service connected disabilities. You mention obtaining a military id and I searched and cant find anyplace where it discusses the procedures to obtain one. Again if i missed an earlier topic concerning this I apologize. :D

Bob E.
If you are 70% SC. you are 100% with the "Unemployability Status" Check with your DAV.Office.
Are you Ret w/medical disabilitys? If so you can optain ID card at any military installations.

I receive a quarterly newletter for Retired marines and in it is always useful info. To pass on what may help you, here is what my wife dug up in the Jan-mar 2007 issue:

You now need 2 forms of ID at issuing sites. Drivers license or other state/gov issued photo ID plus social security card, voter ID, birth cert. Marriage cert for the spouse would be needed to show you are married(a certified copy is best).

You can call 1-800-336-4649 or (703)784-9310 and press option "zero" to get three location nearest you. If you live MORE THAN 300 miles from a military installation you can get one by mail. Call to see if this applies to you. You can also go to this web site www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl

Without an avatar, she was unable to determine your branch so here are other DFAS customer service center numbers
Army(active duty) 1-888-332-7411
Army(reserve) 1-877-462-7782
Army(National Guard) 1-877-276-4729
Navy(active/reserve) 1-888-332-7411
Air Force(active/reserve/nat guard) 1-888-332-7411
Marine Corps(active duty/reserve) 1-888-332-7411

Call the location BEFORE you go so that you don't waste the trip by not having EXACTLY what they want in the manner of ID for both you and your spouse and any under age children.

Hope this helps.
