Weather Information

This area was previously the rustic camping location of Camp Falcon and has been renamed to Camp Hale. It has been turned into a full rate RV Park with cabins and tent sites. There's also a small store, laundry, and restrooms. Camp Hale is also great for hiking with a nature trail that winds through a delightful area of mature trees, open meadows, and an old creek bed with plenty of chances to view wildlife. Camp Hale is available to all and provides individuals the opportunity to utilize Fort Hale's Outdoor Recreation which offers whitewater rafting, paintball, a challenge course, skiing, mountain biking, and ice / rock climbing programs.

New campground with all new facilities, $45 a night. Three areas of concern to be aware of: 50 amp service is not to industry standard. The pedestal has only one 50 amp breaker feeding both legs to your RV versus the standard two 50 amp breakers ganged together. This could become an issue when running two A/C units and other high current draw appliances. 2. Several of the larger sites are not level front to back. We moved from our first assigned site due to it's excessive slope, 2nd site also required leveling blocks. The Camp Host was very accommodating in relocating us. 3. The interior roads need attention. The gravel is gone leaving muddy conditions when wet. With a little more work this could be a great campground. We would stay again. Brochure in the office states a 2 night minimum stay.

New rv park. Not quite finished. Laundry is not open yet. There are 3 loops for rvs. Very little shade on any of them. The best possibility for shade is the inner loops of Ivy and Steadfast. Loyal loop has no shade. Most sites seem very level, though we encountered one in Steadfast Loop that had some rain washout. Sites are very generously proportioned with easy access. They are gravel except for at least two handicap sites that are paved. We were in site 18, level and one lone tree that would provide shade depending on time of day. The weather during our stay was super with warm days and cool nights so the lack of shade was rarely an issue. There are 8 cute cabins for rent besides the rv sites and plans for a tent camping area. The laundry and bathroom/showers are in the office building and not very convenient to the campground itself. Showers were nice! Hooks, benches, clean. Staff here is very nice and accommodating. The access to the campground is to the right before gate 6. I originally said it was a dirt road but it is paved for a short bit then turns to gravel. Fort Carson is phenomenal! Beautiful, well taken care of with wonderful amenities. Commissary is huge, exchange is also large with good selection of products. We worked out several times in the Ivy Fitness Center. Scan your ID for access to weights, pool, aerobic machines, indoor track…super nice. Golf course is amazing! Greens were smooth, fairways were lush, fees were modest. Across from the base is Cheyenne Mountain State Park, that we unfortunately did not visit. The army can be proud of this place! Totally recommend.

So we went here YEARS ago and it was not much, very small, primitive, and no amenities. Also the nearest gate closes early. But the location in Colorado Springs is nice. But last year we tried to stay here and it was all fenced off for a complete overhaul. I think they renamed it Camp Hale and now there are cabins and RV spaces with hookups, laundry, etc. they just reopened last month (May 2024) and I'm excited to go have a look now that it's opened back up!
