First: I'll focus on getting a Big Rig to the RV Park. The closest Gate (Winans) is CLOSED. Recommend the 24/7 Gate off of Walters close to I-35
1) Through the Gate take 1st right on Wilson St. 2) Follow it and it turns to Garden. 3) Where garden goes into housing, turn right on William Hardee Rd. 4) Left on Williams Way 5) Right on Nursery Rd. (road sign is very faded but there is a bright yellow sign opposite the turn) 6) Left on Petroleum (GPS may call it by another name) 7) Right into the Campground (past the RV storage lot). I was given a Site # by email but it was wrong. Suggest you contact the Office or stop in to verify correct Site#. Park is older but sites are long and spaced nicely. Large enough for our 42' plus Toad. Most have some concrete for the RV and a bit of a patio. We didn't use any facilities. Large Commissary, BX and Class 6 on Base. Convenient to Riverwalk & the Alamo.

Winans gate is NOT closed but they have changed the hours. It's open for a few hours at the beginning of the duty day in both directions, and a few hours at the end of the day (outbound only). It is completely closed on the weekends. When I entered via Walters gate, I opted to continue straight on Winfield Scott rd until I reached William Hardee rd. The street signs actually call that Letterman rd. Google maps still calls it William Hardee. Another option would be to enter the post via the Wurzbach East gate. For those using the old directions, you just keep going straight on Wurzbach instead of turning left for Winans gate. This is also a 24/7 gate. Turn left at the light after going through the gate. Then take the next left (Letterman/William Hardee) to Williams Way.
