Recreation center is at least 11 miles from the main base, on the southwest side of San Angelo, TX. Initial reservation for FHU was provided with no site number. Went to the RecCtr office onsite, and was assigned site #3. This site, on the front of the facility, borders the public road less than 100 feet away. Noise both from traffic as well as loud music was still going after 10pm. Water hookups are in a container below ground. Electric and water hookups were above ground and easy to connect. FHU RV sites all have concrete pads both for the RV and picnic table. Grill is provided on the FHU sites, but no fire ring. The Water/Electric RV sites were gravel, back-in only. When making reservations, get both the Camp WiFi password and Gate code. While we were there, the gate code was unnecessary as the key box was broke. Laundry was co-located with a small lounge in the center of both the pull-in and back-in FHU sites. Two top load washers and two side door drivers were available, both $1.50 per use. No soap was available in the dispenser. The lounge area had a large screen TV and DVD player. The TV was not hooked up to an antenna, just the DVD player. The DVD player did not work. On the backside, or facing the lake is the bathrooms, with showers. Commissary, exchange and gas station are on main post as only marine gas is available at the recreation center. Some long-term campers (from May to August) mentioned that they had to move five times to open up spots for weekend reservations from military at GAFB. The long-term movers still got full hookups, just was an inconvenience. No full time camp host, and the RecCtr office was closed earlier in the summer twice a week. Office Hours: Mon-Wed-Thu 10am-4pm; Fri-Sat 9am-7pm: Tue-Closed
