There is no gate or access control to this FamCamp. As such, the Rec Office has restricted any onsite, same day reservation. The Post Commander as directed that all occupied sites must have a Recreation Office tag, with the occupant's last name and dates of the reservation. Without that tag, the AF security are directed to tow any RVs occupying a site without a Rec Office tag. The base security teams patrol the campground, identify unauthorized RVs and get them forcibly (tow!) removed from the campground. Subsequently, after hours arrival at base requires getting the RV site tag from the security officer at the Arnold AFB gate. Our initial day, we neither registered nor had an site tag. Also, when approaching to the gate, it is quite a twist-and-turn, almost challenging even our 31ft Class C. The original on-site campground office is closed and is being used as a storage shed. The staff are over on the Arnold AFB proper, about a mile-and-a-half from the FamCamp, through the secured base gate. The office hours are voice announced as 10-6 Monday-Friday, 10-4 Saturday, closed Sunday and Federal holidays. Patience is a virtue as we started calling at 10am on Saturday and got a return call at 2:45pm. But they were gracious in extending our stay an additional night. Oh, and we proudly posted our RecCtr tag on our site marker. The water hookups at some of the sites are some distance from the concrete pad, but still within 25 feet. The power, though, seems to have aged as the 30amp circuit breaker tripped when both the single air conditioner and the microwave came online. Simple to fix by using a 50-to-30am dongle, in addition to the usual 30amp surge protector. Concrete pads for RVs, but the electric and water hookups might be an unusually far distance from the normal RV access ports. Note that the sites can handle nominally between 25 and 35 feet, if one wants all leveling devices on the concrete pads. Lack of septic support even more limiting by the dump station being elevated above the outflow from the RV making it hard to dump the tanks. The Starlink coverage is limited by the extensive overhead foliage to 31Mbps up/6Mbps. T-Mobile came in at over 400Mbps download/40Mbps upload. Free base WiFi (Arnold_AFB_QOL-Net) came in at 8Mbps down/3.6Mbps up and FamCamp WiFi (Famcamp-Wifi) clocked in at 163Mbps up/26Mbps down. Both USAF provided free WiFi have different passphrases available from the Recreation Services during office hours, or in the lobby of the Wingo Lodge (Visitor's Quarters for military personnel and their families, no pets). Also, the code for the laundry is also picked up from the check-in desk at the Wingo Lodge when getting RV/Tent site card.
