Boy, we had a great time here! We arrived June 19th (Federal holiday) so no one was around to check us in. Our reserved site (site 17) was beautiful - right on the water! - but we also have a one-year-old, and my wife didn't like being so close to the water with a toddler. We just "claimed" a safer site and contacted staff once they were back at work next day, no problems. Sites are concrete pads with plenty of space. Lots of room for older kids to ride bikes, and there's a swimming beach at the campground. Campfires are allowed on site in the fire ring (which is kind of a treat for military campgrounds). On site wifi is free and very usable. Arnold AFB is pretty small facilities wise. It has a tiny commissary and a class six, and that's about it. Talking with a cashier, evidently there's only ~30 active-duty personnel stationed on post as it's primarily an R&D facility for the Air Force. Local towns of Manchester and Tullahoma were both pleasant to visit, and we had a nice hike at Old Stone State Park (free parking).
