The campground was small and well kept up. Probably the easiest in and out, just one road from gate to the campground. There is a small bath house near the beach. One shower and a ? toilet that was closed off. The place was swarming with bees and wasps. Got stung once and never returned. No swimming signs posted near the small beach. Do be aware that there are no amenities. Our jetpack cost is high, so usually try to find campgrounds that offer WiFi (like most Navy campgrounds). No cable and antenna picked up a few channels that would sometimes work and other times wouldn’t. The girl in the office was very nice and friendly. Our one major concern is there is nowhere to shelter in case of severe weather. We have never encountered this at any military campgrounds we have stayed at over the past few years. We had severe thunder storms, high winds and tornado watches while we were there. I called the office to ask where to take shelter if needed. I was told if the weather was severe the CO would close the base and we needed to evacuate with our RV. Evacuate during tornado watches/warnings??? Not gonna happen! All in all it is a nice, basic and very small campground. Good for a stop over, 1 ½ hours over to the Outer Banks.
