During the last few months of 2011, over 26,000 website members were invited to vote for the Campers Choice Award for the BEST Military Campground in 2011. TWO awards were voted on and are being awarded. Seperate Campers Choice Awards for BEST Military Campground in the Western USA and the Eastern USA are being awarded. The votes have been counted and the reults are in!

Started in 2007, this is the fifrth year that we have conducted the Campers Choice Award voting. For those website members who have been with us for at least a few years, the results won't be much of a surprise. The membership of the U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks website has selected Agave Gulch FamCamp, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ once again as the BEST Military Campground in 2011 for the Western USA, and Eagle Hammock RV Park, Kings Bay Navy Submarine Base, GA again as the BEST Military Campground in 2011 for the Eastern USA. The final results for the top 5 Military Campgrounds for the Western USA and the Eastern USA are below.

Competion for the Campers Choice Award has been getting tougher every year. This year, the winners received a higher pecentage of the votes than in previous years. The following table shows some of the differences between voting since the first award in 2007. In 2007 and 2008, there was only one award for the entire USA. For the past three years, we had seperate Campers Choice Awards for the Western USA and the Eastern USA. This is the fifth year in a row that Agave Gulch FamCamp has won (Western USA) and the third year in a row that Eagle Hammock RV Park has won (Eastern USA) the Campers Choice Award (Eastern USA Award has only been availble for three years).

It's commendable that the same military campgrounds are constantly being voted as the BEST, perhaps it's time to change the voting to allow other recreation facilities a chance to be recognized. Join us in the Dicussion Forums where we're discussing various options to "change up" the voting for 2012.

When looking at the statistics above, remember voters had the option to vote for both, the Western and Eastern USA, or only one. You can't compare Western USA results with Eastern USA results. This year, we also had the MOST military campgrounds nominated (they received at least 1 vote). It's interesting to see some new campgrounds in the top 5 this year, especially for the Eastern USA. Some campgrounds that were in the top 5 last year didn't make the cut this year.
