KARSThe Kennedy Space Center in Florida operates the Kennedy Athletic, Recreation, and Social (KARS) Park. The KARS Parks are operated and maintained by non-appropriated funds generated by the Exchange Stores, Child Development Center and KARS Park membership and facility usage fees. Until recently, KARS Park was only open to NASA employees and military assigned at the Kennedy Space Center, along with family and friends. However, they recently opened KARS Park to active duty and retired military personnel. Note that the Veterans Health Idendification Card isn't accepted.

Located on the south end of Kennedy Space Center. Originally for exclusive use by NASA employees, retirees, and family members, it is now accessible to active military personnel and retired military members. It has 104 RV sites with water/electric (30/50amp) and two dump stations. The 20 sites located on the water are first-come, first-served, and stays are limited to 2 weeks. Recreational activities including:

  • Marina with a boat ramp, boat slips, and an observation pier for river fishing. It is a popular spot for launching kayaks into the "No Motor Zone".
  • Sports Facilities with tennis courts, basketball courts, racquetball courts, volleyball courts, and three softball fields.
  • Three playgrounds, a 9-hole miniature golf course, and large picnic pavilions (Area I and Area II) available for reservation.
  • Just outside the front entrance is an 18-hole golf course.

Renowned as a premier viewing location for rocket launches due to its proximity to the Kennedy Space Center launch pads. Purchase a membership card to use the facility at $20 per year/per family. This facility is only accessible to active duty service members, retired military personnel, and family members with a valid military ID card. Veterans Health Administration identification card (VHIC)-holders are not eligible. Gates are open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. The Park Office is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM To reach The Country Store call (321) 867-7967 for assistance. All functions (e.g., picnics, softball games, club meetings) must be completed no later than 10:00 PM.

KARS Park I is monitored by a Park Attendant from 6 AM – 10 PM, 7 days a week. It is also monitored by video cameras 24/7. Any person entering the park must possess and present a current valid KARS Park Membership Card and photo ID.  The KARS Park Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the parks and can be reached at (321) 867-3891.  Park hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Park employees are available 7 days a week for assistance.
