Until our visit in February 2010, we always knew this RV Park simply as "Camp Blanding RV Park". However, with the large sign at the RV Park, it was obviously called "James E. Johnson Memorial RV Park". Since we didn't stay here and just visited for the day, we never did learn who James E. Johnson was and why the RV Park was a memorial to him. Following the provided driving directions, we wnet directly to the RV Park. However, we did update the diretions to make it a little easier.
This RV Park is spread out in two sections and is located directly on Kingsley Lake. The first section we came to had 29 full hook-up sites. The area was grassy with trees with a great view of the little lake. The roads were gravel, but most of the RV sites had concrete pads and patios, along with a table, BBQ AND a fire ring. There was also a small stack of firewood provided at each site. Sites #1 through 20 are back-in sites. Sites #21 through 29 are pull-through sites and appeared to be newer sites, having a gravel road and gravel RV pad, but no patio, BBQ or fire ring. These sites did have a table on the grass. We didn't find a bathroom or showers in this section. The rules also state "only self-contained RV's" are allowed in this section.
The other section is known as the "primitive" section. This section is also a large grassy area with trees along the lake. There are 12 partial hook-up RV sites here with water and electric (no sewer). This section is primarily for tents, with 57 marked sites. There's a dirt road with BBQ's and a table at each site. Soe of the sites have a covered picnic table. There's water spigots spread out in this area, but are not at each tent site. These are large tents sites, with a limit of 2 tents per site, but many of these site aren't very level.

The RV Park has various small boat docks on the lake, with playgrounds in each section. While there's no bathroom in the FHU section, the primitive section did have a bthroom and shower facility. It's an old building, but was kept repaired and clean. There's also picnic tables located at lake edge. No laundry facilities are available at the RV Park. Although there's no WiFi available either, there is a dial-up connection available in the office. Note that the office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Although we didn't visit it, I understand there's a good museum near the main gate entrance. There's also a small Exchange on the post with limited food supplies. Walmart is 15 miles away.
Although we didn't stay the night here, we would have liked to and probably will on a future visit to Florida. This RV Park is a little out of the way, which is what we like. Quiet with no crowds. During our visit in Feburary, there were still plenty of sites available. But this was also a cold winter for Florida.
