Review Detail

1. Park Overview - A small park with an incredible view that has so much potential but ultimately fails because of the infestation of goat head thorns. (I thought Apache Flats was bad but this takes the prize hands down) No matter where we went, there were thorns. Around the site, in the “grass”, sidewalks, everywhere. This does not bode well for pets or bicycle riders. My rant is complete. I did not use the bathrooms and there is no laundry at the park. However, there is a laundromat by the bowling alley. 2. Sites - The pads are deteriorated asphalt, gravel, and thorns. There is a patio with a picnic table, grill and a shade structure. The area surrounding the site is dirt and again thorns. 3. Location - This is a bit of a remote location but great for visiting White Sands NP. Only 30 minutes to Las Cruces, and that has about everything you need. If you fancy a beer, Little Toad Creek is my recommendation. (Dog friendly) There is also the White Sands Missile Range Museum that is worth a look. Small but adequate commissary and PX. 4. Noise - A very quiet park with the exception of some very strong winds while we were there. (move my 26’ travel trailer 6 inches and almost off the supports. 5. Cell Service - Verizon was three bars of 5G. 6. Wifi - No park wifi but Starlink was 331 Mbps down and 28 Mbps up. 7. Rates - $20 a day which is fine. 8. Access - You need to be qualified to access a military installation and required RV reservation. 9. Dog Friendliness - As mentioned, the goat head thorns make this very unfriendly for any pets. -- Wrapping it up. I would not return to this park but for visiting White Sands NP, it served its purpose..
