This is a hidden jewel! The location of the base is perfect for exploring and enjoying the New Orleans area. We stayed at the campground at the height of Mardi Gras season, and had no difficulty traveling to the French Quarter. As other users have stated, Kenny runs a top-notch facility, and he provided us with a wealth of information that really aided us in planning our itinerary. We took advantage of using the Algiers Point ferry, which disembarks passengers at the heart of the French Quarter riverside area. Using the ferry eliminated the worry of crowded downtown parking areas, and provided peace of mind knowing that our truck was in a manned parking lot. Campsites are well laid out, with plenty of room at each site, and between sites. Suggestions that could make the campground even better: put a couple of chairs in the laundry room, and provide a picnic table at each campsite. This is a super campground, and we will be staying here again!
