Camp Carlson itself is quite nice. Very well kept and picturesque. Sites were nice, laundry facilities were clean with lots of machines. Plenty of room for kids to ride bikes, lots of playgrounds, and a nice trail along the river/creek. Fort Knox has a nice water park for $7 for the entire day, but they have odd hours for when they keep their gates open. You'll need to get Google Maps to take you to the main gate, then from there put in the waterpark, otherwise Google will try to send you through a closed gate. Be aware you may not be able to get to the PX/commissary from the main gate if you have your RV attached and you enter at the main gate, as there's a rail line with low clearance you have to drive under. Otherwise, not much to the larger area. It's pretty rural and undeveloped, so you're looking at a minimum 20-minute drive to go anywhere. Uncle Steph's Ice Cream is great, highly recommend. There's a paved walking trail near the campground, and a more rugged hiking trail ending at a beautiful waterfall in the same area.
