A top-rated, popular military campground in the Arizona sunbelt. While it is full most of the time in the winter, there is plenty of overflow space and there is a fair rotation policy into the FHU sites.

Received the Campers Choice Award for OVERALL BEST Military Campground in 2007, 2008 AND 2009 (Western USA)!

A little tedious to get to, but just follow the directions and you are there. Plenty of room during this time of year. Friendly staff and very clean park. Pet area good enough. Close to PX/commissary. Stayed overnight in a MH and will use this park again.

We only stayed here two nights, would have stayed much longer if we had no other plans. This was an excellent campground with full hookup sites. Parking pads were level gravel pads with concrete patio with picnic table. Bath house close and very clean, needed code to get in. Free WIFI which came in very good. Commissary and BX well stocked and reasonable. Easy biking around the base, mostly sidewalks but roads were OK too and folks were friendly and courteous. Camp host was helpful with any information needed. Casino approximately 20 miles. We enjoyed our short stay and would camp here in the future if in the area.

We stayed at this famcamp during the month of May, so we expected it to be hot -and it is, but it hasn't been so hot that we couldn't enjoy whatever we wanted to do. The area is beautiful (including the famcamp and the surrounding area). The staff is great - they're very friendly, knowledgeable about the local stuff to do, etc. We only have two minor criticisms: 1) If the sites could be widened a bit, that would be wonderful. They are pretty narrow, so each RV is very close to the one next to it. 2) I can't understand why the shower curtains are so narrow. I don't think this is an Air Force wide thing, cause we've only encountered the narrow shower curtains at Army and Navy bases, never another Air Force one. When I'm taking a shower, I really, really want some privacy. Overall, this is a great place to stay.

We have been here for a week and can readily see why the ratings are so high! Clean grounds, extremely clean laundry and shower facilities. The sites are mostly level with a nice patio and picnic table and at each site..(not overflow). We would not stay anywhere else in S. AZ.

This was our first stay, but we WILL be back. The location is great, easy to get to from the interstate and no problems getting through the gate with a big rig. We love the area, the park is clean, well kept, and dog friendly. The staff was extremely helpful. One of the best we've seen. Thanks DM

Our second time to visit and hope to be back next year. Liked the area --lots to see and do with an area Passport Discount Booklet. Agree with a former reviewer that the rotation is the fairest that we have seen. The longest we had to stay in overflow (in the almost 4 months) was 5 days. It is great that they are adding another 20 full hook-up sites along with a new laundry/shower facility in the future. The Agave Gulch's FamCamp get togethers and site seeing tours were wonderful experiences. On Monday afternoons, they have added a Craft/Gab Session at the Community Center where you could get to know your fellow RV'ers. There is talk of having another day where volunteers could teach new crafts. If you are a quilter, the local quilt shops have many classes and are very helpful. Can't say enough good about it!

This was our first stay at Agave-Gulch FAM camp. We only planned to stay a week or so and ended up staying for 25 days. We had to stay in overflow for 3 days but it was not bad at all it was kind of exciting to try out dry docking for the first time and learn how to do it. Everything is so convenient on base and in Tuscon. Lots to do and see in town and surrounding area. Found Laundry to be small for the size of the campground but very nice. All the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. It's good to know that there are adding on FHU's to camp because it is definitely busy in Jan-Feb. Will definitely return next winter!

I agree with the former review that the refund policy should be reviewed as things do happen and I experienced the same thing at another military campground when there was an emergency at home and was given a full refund. That being said, this place is awesome! While I have been here they have added 18 more FHU spaces with 20 more planned. They are also planning another larger laundry, plus a bathhouse in the overflow area, along with a dump station. Hopefully they can spend the bucks before the DOD grabs it to spend on something stupid! The rotation system is second to none and should be the standard for other mil campgrounds that allow homesteading. The staff were thrilled to be picked #1 once again in this site's survey, very well deserved! We will be back next Jan for sure!

This was our first time at DM campground. After reading so many good reviews, we thought we would travel to Tucson to check it out. The office staff is top notch and very helpful. However, while we certainly enjoyed our stay at this campground, there are a few things which could be improved. The laundry facilities are woefully inadequate for so many winter visitors, forcing many to go to town to do their laundry. And secondly, the refund policy needs to be reviewed. This is a military campground, not a private one. You are allowed to stay 3 weeks, but if there is a family emergency back home, or you have to leave for some reason, well, it is just too bad on getting your money back. We have had better customer service at private campgrounds concerning refunds. When there are 50+ RVs waiting in overflow, what is the justification for keeping your money? We think this is an unfair policy which needs to be reviewed...

There isn't a single negative I could justify posting about Agave Gulch. The place is well maintained and clean; the office staff is helpful and well-informed, and there is a general sense of camaraderie among the visitors. I was really impressed by the effort management took in organizing a Christmas luncheon for all the FAMCAMP guests that was for all practical purposes, free. I also like the organized activities that are set up; i.e. reserved golf times on Wednesday for FAMCAMP golfers and a Monday activities gathering. I only regret that I will miss the golf tournament that is scheduled for after we leave. For perfectly understandable reasons, Agave Gulch has more people who want to stay there than they have space for them. The system they use to handle the overcrowding is a model for other facilities: it is understandable, impartial, and fair. The wi-fi worked great, albeit a bit slow at times. It is perfectly clear to me that this facility has EARNED the accolades it has garnered over the past couple of years. Bravo Zulu to Davis Monthan MWR for the way they run their FAMCAMP.

Another resource this great Fam Camp has is Cameron's Mobile RV repair. I had diesel leaking from my Aqua Hot. He came out on a Saturday and he had all the parts needed to rebuild the burner unit in the fully equipped shop in his trailer. I was completely satisfied with his work and highly recommend him. You can get his number at the office.

We were tired when we arrived but found the campground easy to get to, even though it was getting late in the day. Checked in at the office, which was closed by time we got there, and picked a spot. Well the spot I picked was a little on the tight side for my 40'er and I ran into and broke the water faucet. Went back to the office too call the emergency number listed, talked to the camp manager, whose wife had passed away that morning, did I feel bad about this time. Offered my condolences and explained what had happened. By this time the camp host arrived, offer my condolences again and turned the problem over to the camp host. We did some paperwork, insurance, drivers license, registration, and so on. Picked out another site with the hosts assistance. By time I got to my new site a CE crew had arrived and was fixing the faucet. The rest of the night went a lot better. We will be back here again if they will let us. Generally the pads are plenty big enough for a rig the size of mine, I was just tired. This is a very nice campground with very clean and well stocked facilities, there is a picnic table at each site, the sites are level concrete. The grounds were clean and nicely landscaped.

What a super park in a super location!! The park is clean and has just about everything to offer. We parked across from the huge pet walk because we have a dog. We were on a pull-thru site that was clean and level. The camp hosts were super friendly. Wi-Fi is throughout the park but it's a little slow. My guess is that is probably because everyone was on it. We have AT&T and have 3G 5 bar service. We will definitely stay here when passing through again.

We've stayed at this park several times over several years. Aside from being very crowded during the winter months we believe this park is a very convenient and nice place to stay in the Tucson area. A much better value than most of the Navy camp grounds we've stayed at, at least the AF has a consideration for the Active Duty and Retired members as far as prices are concerned, the Navy feels that it's a business, and if they can get away with raising their rates, then they'll jump on it! Just check around, you'll see. On a side note, I read some of the others comments; and really, if they think that this Camp ground is too tight to their neighbors then they haven't stayed at many parks. And the one person complaining about riding their scooter off base (and not being caught) and then being told at the gate upon return that they don't have gloves and boots on and can't ride on base has no clue, this policy for motorcycles and scooters has been in place for 20-plus years! Just my 2cts.....

We can understand why some people complain about other parks if they are using this one as comparison. It is a great place to stay and we enjoyed it both time we stayed. They are close together but not too close. The park is friendly and just a good place to stay.

Very friendly staff and helpful staff. Had to use the over flow but no problem, just needed to get there a little early in the day. One bad thing was a person came in at the same time as me went to over flow then their friends showed up and they had sign up for a full hook up site so they moved. Didn't think that was fair to other RVer's, since they have a no reservation policy. But that's not the campgrounds fault just RVer's.

The two people in the office were as friendly and helpful as anyone could ask for, and they provided enormous amounts of information. I felt welcome and did feel I was being given a litany of "don'ts" as has been mentioned. Everything discussed pertained to the usual park rules about speed, noise, and pets. The sites are a bit close, but that is the price we pay for driving rigs with slide-outs and using parks that have been in existence for more years than the slide-outs!! We paid $18/night, and I would be hard pressed to think of the last time I stayed in an acceptable civilian RV park for that low of a rate. Unlike some military parks I have visited, there appears to be a fair rotation to eliminate the "good old boys" setup, although I take exception to any military park that makes it possible for folks to essentially make it their home. To have to pull up stakes and move out for just 24 hours every eight months doesn't do it. A long-term stay should be balanced with an equal amount of time spent away from the park. I love the location on base - it is quiet, quiet, quiet, and we are within view of acres of tails of planes. The pet walking area is spacious and well maintained - It is rare that one finds any kind of an RV park with a fenced exercise area so I don't see that as a negative here. The commissary and BX are a short drive away. We will definitely return to this park - it is the best we have found within the military system.
