This is clearly the unwanted stepchild of Buckley AF Base. It has a lot of potential - concrete pads, grill & picnic tables at each site. Small bath and free laundry facility. They bought 2 high end washers & dryers with a ton of options - good for a household but not for a public facility. One washer was broken when we were there. Bathroom was clean other than the sinks - toothpaste remains but that's patron laziness! The grounds are a mess - grass (where it grew) was 18+ inches high all around each campsites. When it rains mud (where the grass doesn't grow) flows down hill. We arrived on Friday PM and MWR was closed and didn't reopen until Mon. We were second in line at MWR and it took the 1 person who was allowed to operate the register 40 minutes to do one night's camping and storage for the person in front of us. Pleasant people but haven't received adequate training. When we were there the staff hadn't been trained to sell any attraction tickets and the sign said they wouldn't be selling them for the foreseeable future. There's a box mounted to a pole outside the laundry and a little note that says to fill in a form and drop in your check for $22 if you're only staying 1 night - you'd never see it unless someone told you about it. We saw rigs come in late and leave early - I don't think they paid. We didn't see a single Security or MWR personnel in the campground the entire week we were there. The campground is good for touring the Denver area and still cheaper than other campgrounds but don't expect much.
