70 FHU large sites with massive level/near level cement pads. Great value. Bathhouse very small, one shower each. One toilet in men’s. Great location to visit Huntsville sites, especially the Rocket and Space Center.
3.5 average stars is about right for this Famcamp with no sewer hookups, but electric and water pressure were good. Upkeep is lacking. Sites are not being cleaned of debris after campers leave or if leaves and tree debris. Bathhouse could be cleaner. Picnic tables need periodic pressure washing, one by the bathhouse full of bugs and spider webs. Reservation office is good about answering (keep trying if no answer during open hours) and returning calls. Interesting bulletin board...
Was just traveling by Camp Ripley and decided to pop in and checkout the campground. Saw a few empty sites and decided to see if we could get one for a night. We did and it was a super nice campground. Large well separated sites with large cement pads. Although we didn’t have a campfire, Firewood appeared to be available complementary. Fantastic clean bathhouse with individual lockable showers. Shower head a little wonky in the one I used, sprayed...
We had a very pleasant 3-day stay here. Our site (7) was backed up against a large grass area with trees which was very convenient with the dog. Very nice quiet area where the famcamp is located. Just minutes to National Museum of the Air Force, a must see that could not be seen effectively in one day. Also several very interesting Wright brothers sites to see. All just minutes away. Deeds Point park in downtown Dayton was very...
Nice spot for visiting Mississippi coast. We stayed in the campground closest to the Pass Rd , 24 hr gate. Very nice bathhouse, laundry. Traffic a bit noisy. Visited the other campground at the rear of the base and it was more secluded in a wooded area so probably quieter.
Great place to stay and visit the area. Much to do. Walk to and up into the lighthouse. Amazing Aviation museum also very close. Home of the Blue Angels for which you may catch them practicing! Beautiful beach area but swimming not allowed at the campground section. Alabama beachs close by though and beautiful.
Best thing going for it is the lake. Very nice and pretty and clear water. We were in the first campground of three along the lake. It had no bathhouse. Closest (in 2nd campground) was quite far. Our campsite was nice and level but was crumbly asphalt. Was really taken aback by the pet fee, sales tax, and bed tax! What?! First time I’ve encountered fees at a military campground. This added up to a total of $40...
Best value I’ve seen in a long time for a military campground. All sites FHU , level, paved and large. New cement patios. Not much in the area. But be sure to eat at The Mocha House in Warren.
Fine for a stay overnight or to visit things in the area. No reservation system. MWR Office onsite closed on weekends. Pick an empty site and pay by leaving a check in a provided envelope and put in dropbox. Sites need a little more upkeep ( blow off pads, trim dead branches above).
Nice sites in pretty location within view of the bay. Across street from active coast guard air station. No bath house which is a bit of a bummer. 100 yds from swimming beach and boat launch. Close to gas station/mini mart, small Exchange.
I stayed here on several extended stays. It's terrible as an RV park. Run-down, upkeep and cleaning is nearly non existent. It's ok if you're just looking for a place to park when traveling through the area or here for specific purpose such as visiting a loved one who is stationed here. It's not a destination that is close to any attractions. Closest cities, Goose Creek, North Charleston, nothing to see there and unattractive. Most attractions are at least...
