We stayed in a "sleeper" cabin our first night here. It was crowded, with a double bed, very small bathroom, MW, under counter fridge, and tv. Very small table. So we upgraded to a one bedroom cabins that was much more comfortable. Both cabins were wonderfully clean; the entire campground was clean, for that matter. The mattresses are encased in plastic - maybe for cleanliness? But that made for noisy sleeping. The shower stalls were small; my dh and I...
Due to staffing reductions at the Two Rivers CG station, it is now necessary to drive to the CG station in Sheboygan to pick up and drop off the keys. Pickup after 1 pm, return by noon. Sheboygan is about an hour south of the lighthouse. For us - and probably many who stay at the lighthouse, this was a big inconvenience. The lighthouse cottage is fine. We had unit C. Good proximity to the beach. There is good...
Having come from Cliffside (NAS Whidbey) earlier this week, this place probably seems worse than it is, but there isn't much here...I was in Tent Site 8 - couldn't find a level area for my tent. Other than that, it was quiet...when I got to the lighthouse originally, I wasn't sure that I was in the right place because despite the great directions, there are no signs. The lighthouse volunteer tried to chase me off - "no private cars...
My husband and I came here to relax and recharge: the atmosphere of this place encourages doing exactly that. We spent hours wandering the beach and sitting on the sand, watching the waves. We tossed a few bean bags at the Cornhole game and played Connect 4 (he won). We explored Lollipop Loop, discovering the Albino Arctic Lady Bugs and the red Lady Bugs.... The jets were loud, but we didn't think they flew *that much.* We were in...
The bathrooms were clean; the electricity at our site was fine. We didn't use the water - didn't need it for our tent. I can't comment on the other Amenities since there were none. Not even a picnic table at each site. On the other hand, the price was great and the place was quiet. We did hear the sound of jets taking off and landing until late, but that wasn't noise - it was the sound of freedom!...
We stayed in cabin 1. The front room had a double bed tucked securely into the corner. No way for person #2 to get in and out of bed without scrambling over person #1. So my husband took one of the bunks in the second room. The bunk beds were too short and narrow for him (he is 6'2) so after the first night, he slept on the floor on one of our Thermarests...the cabin has a small fridge/freezer...The...
We arrived around 5 pm on Saturday evening. Went through the main gate, turned right on Eielson (that is where the road comes to a T). Went past the Outdoor Rec office on the right; they were closed. At the campground we found the pay envelopes on the side of the bathroom/laundry building. Reservations are not accepted at this campground - maybe because so few people use it? There were 6 RVs plus us with our tent. That was...
We stayed in tent site 10. This is close to the lake - this is at the end of the row of tent sites. Since we were the only tent campers, it was especially quiet. Nice, but - it's a bit of a walk to the camp bathrooms, so there were two porta potties. The potties are cleaned/emptied on Fridays; by the time we arrived on Tuesday (after the long holiday weekend), the potties were full and gross. So...
This is a great place; we live locally, so we have not camped there, but we have been there often as day users. The place is clean, the camp staff is friendly and helpful. The lakes are smallish - probably a good place to take your little kids? A gorgeous area. Be careful, though, on the trails. Yesterday I hiked the trail from the lake to Cub Camp, mostly by myself. I saw the trail data - not much...
I stayed in the yurt; this is a good option if you are a minimalist and don't need a lot of comforts. This is like car camping with a very large tent that you can stand up and walk around in. It has about 4 large cots and a small metal table. Not bad, but I wish I had brought a thermarest - that cot was just too hard. There is a picnic table directly outside, but no water....
