This is a much delayed review. We stayed here a couple of weeks around Easter. Loved this campground, except we had a disaster, one of several on this trip! We were in an end site (south end) of one row with our awning facing towards the wall. On Easter Sunday I left the awning out, since the weather was and had been hot and there had been no wind. We returned to the trailer after...
Stayed here last year too, mostly due to convenience off interstate and good time to stop. Very basic facility with good pad and hookups, but that is about it. For what you get, it is overpriced. We planned one night, but high winds prevented us from going on to the west. Only a small contingent of Marines on base, so Exchange and Commissary are small. No diesel fuel on base. Hard to believe the price for this camp, when...
Had read about this place several years and wanted to try it on way to Scottsdale. All info and reviews on this website are accurate. Nothing much in the way of amenities, but an interesting, quiet place. Last hookup spot was taken just before we arrived, so we dry camped. We were told to just find a spot and park, then pay in morning. Well worth the $3. We decided we could dry camp here several days sometime. We...
We stayed here a year before, in the same site. It had rained prior to arrival. While there is a good concrete pad for parking, the hookups area is unpaved. It was very muddy and a mess to get hooked up. Longer term sites seem to have gravel next to pad. The men's shower hose was broken. An easy fix, but it appears nobody was motivated to get a new hose and install it. A cheap and easy fix...
We were concerned we wouldn't get a hookup spot, but after 1 night dry camping we got a site. Seems to be reasonable amount of rotation in and out. We had a spot on the paved area, but with full hookups. Base is convenient to shopping and visiting in the greater area. Base itself has lots of interesting history, which is shown on various plaques you find when you walk around. Price is quite reasonable for an urban area....
We stayed here twice before about 17 years ago, and it was very nice then. This time it wasn't worth the long drive in from the interstate. We were told there was no electric when calling for a reservation, but cost would be $25, and so long as spaces were open we could not dry camp in overflow. We arrived in the dark, so just pulled into a spot and did not hook up. There was nobody to pay...
