Sadly Murray too now has suffered after the crackdown on squatters/homesteaders of both campgrounds at JBLM...now it's affected Murray :( 14 day stay limit now, then you must vacate and not return for two weeks...still no tent camping beginning NOV-End of march. These two rules are strictly enforced summer season now, no special people getting over staying longer/squatting-homesteading as I watched my many former summer seasonal neighbors constantly playing musical chairs with their RVs between McCord, Lewis and Murray...

Called today 9-20-17 to see if they were answering the phone yet & check my mail/I'm a resident w/postal box. They answered!!! The exchange reopened today at noon, said campground was still closed... They also eluded that the commander is expected to address reopening of campground 9-21-17? God help paradise, god help us get back to normal...
My 2015 stay here was off season (may thru oct) as I moved off my sailboat in marathon fla to live ashore for awhile which turned into six months as I moved back on my boat after fantasy fest 2015, When I got there May 1st 2015 place was emptying or almost at off season population empty (there was no rotation) I seemingly became the outcast/object of aggression by the longtime local year round clique who gossiped about me...
You must make reservations via navybeds telephone reservations, they frown and act like they're doing you special favors if you just show up trying to check in. I stayed here in tent camping a few nights passing thru in 2017 tent camping as it is too cheap $3.50 a nite, place is no better than when I stayed long term (6 weeks) earlier in fall 2016. Disappointed with management, base security as well as command to fix this place. They had a town hall Jan 2017 which from gossip I heard went ugly, so much entitlement from campers the command was astonished I heard later? I like active duty people skipped it as I know my place, I'm a guest and being on base is a priv, not a right like so many dependants seemingly think. Management doesn't seem to follow policies, much less enforce...
