The hidden Gem of Gem City is tarnished...the overall cost of WPAFB FAMCAMP is now too high IMHO. This used to be a very reasonable campground that charged about $17/night. New policies in place and the nightly rate has skyrocketed to $25/night. The overall cost doesn't sound ridiculous, but the campground doesn't offer much of anything in the way of amenities. The only thing going is free electric and you get to hear the National Anthem played every evening...

I know we just arrived yesterday, but my first impression of this location isn't outstanding. We've been here two days now and haven't seen a camp host or anyone from MWR yet. I drive a 41' fifth wheel, so the campground is difficult to maneuver through. The roads are tiny and there were several branches hanging too low both within and getting to the campground. We were looking for site 12, but MWR decided to change my spot from...

Jacksonville didn't have much to offer and the area right near the base was very congested. Most attractions and shopping was either north or all the way across the St. John's river, which meant at least a 20 minute drive. Most folks told us the only must see in the area was St. Augustine, which was very nice to visit, but not a local attraction in Jacksonville. Campground, shower house, and laundry room was well kept. Campground host (Mike)...

Dec16 - Feb 17

We landed at Eglin in Dec 16,and didn't depart until the end of Feb 17. This was our first full-time winter stay, but not our first rodeo staying in an RV park. We've been RVing for 20+ years. Campground is nice with larger than average sites. No issues with electric, water, or sewer. Wish they'd spend some funds to pave the roads and add more FHU sites. The sound of freedom waking you up is welcomed by most veterans,...

The Camp Host is the deciding factor to stay at Wright Patterson FAMCAMP. She has done an outstanding job getting things fixed up and harnessing motivation of many volunteers. Laundry area and bathrooms were very well kept. The sites themselves are also in very good condition and have brand new picnic tables. We used laundry facilities regularly and found the machines and prices to be good. Local campers help out with mowing, so the grounds are in very good...
