I would not call this Famcamp Big Rig friendly as most if not all sites are short and narrow. There are no camp host and all actions are controlled at outdoor rec. Doubt we'll return.
A nice quiet milcamp. Be aware there was no TV reception and limited cell service during our stay there is no longer any wifi offered by the campground. The camp managers were on top of our stay and had a nice check in process.
Our site was grossly uneven so much so that the right side tires were off the ground to get level. Our 3 week in advance reservation fell on deaf ears as our name was not posted anywhere in the camp. We had to call the duty Ops person who also had no idea where our site was. We ended up taking a site just as another camper came in that had that site, go figure. They were great about...
What else can I add but this was the nicest milcamp we stayed at east of the Mississippi River. They even had ice cream.
What a wonderful Military camp ground. They are adding another 70 sites which should be open in Nov 2017. The concrete pads are a great sizes. Only issue we had was with the smell of the water.
Seems that about a third of the camp sites are down due to electrical power issues and have been down for some time. We only stayed overnight and had to boondock in the overflow parking lot for $5. Not an issue for us but the strong smell of sewage was with us all night meaning the windows had to stay closed and made it a little uncomfortable. They do take reservations so call.
Gravel RV parking area left us with ants in the RV. The FamCamp was clean although the doggie poop receptacle stayed full for over a week. Not an issue as there was a dumpster very near just started to smell. The rainbow eucalyptus trees are very pretty but also very messy make sure you sweep your slides off. Camp site is near the main gate and it seems Air Force Blvd doubles as a drag strip for those leaving...
Camp host Vicky and George are super. They keep the showers and laundry areas the cleanest we have seen. Since this is a no sewer hook up site these areas see lots of use. The sites are gravel and small there are a few sites that will fit big rigs. Very rural and quiet. We enjoyed our stay and will return.
Great place for an overnight stop while traveling. Easy on and off Interstate 40. No pull-thru sites, but plenty of room to back our 44 ft. 5th Wheel and still have room to park our Truck. Nice level concrete pads full hookups. We did not visit the showers nor were we told if there were any. There was a loose dog that looked homeless, not sure if it was mean as we didn't give it a chance to act....
Fair Warning do not use Gibson Gate. There are concrete barriers that will damage your RV and can not be moved. Truman Gate is the best to use for entry, period. The wifi will not even allow us to check email. The RV is large and first come first serve. Most of the sites are gravel and very large. We did enjoy our stay as there are so many things to do in Albuquerque.
Great little RV park near Fort Smith. Roads were a little washed out and rough for larger rigs but not impassible. Nearest dumpster is at the Dining Facility. Great bang for the buck. We had no hook up issues as in previous reviews/years ago.
The camp host for Battleship Row was very helpful and friendly. The view of Perdido Bay was great over looking the WWII seaplane ramps. Although the weather was hot the breeze off the water and the trees sure did help. The park area was clean and well kept.
When traveling from the south on I-95 and using exit 161 be advised there is a bridge that has a 13'4" clearance. We made it through and our clearance is 13'6". The FamCamp was clean but the dumpster area was not, trash everywhere not in the dumpster. Wifi exist but not good enough for anything but email. The base was very clean and the new PX was amazingly large. Overall the site was to expensive for a military campground...
