A few changes in access gates, Gate 26A is closed. A new gate is being constructed about a mile further on Route 235, not sure when it will open. We entered through gate 12A and followed Spruce Way to Skeel Ave. Skeel follows the flight line so turn toward the right from Spruce Way then take the left at the “Y” in the road. Follow Skeel around the airfield, it will become Loop Rd, after passing the closed gate...
Wow, what a great place. We have heard of this park since we started RVing three years ago. It is better than we had heard. Of course this is considered the low season for Key West, but it has been wonderful. We had no idea how pleasant it would be in the Keys this time of the year. We arrived late on Monday and missed the sign for the campground office, but the Camp Host, Jeff saw us driving...
A change in our plans brought us back to Florida earlier than normal. We are sorry we could not continue on our planned route, but we are glad we spent this summer in Florida. Manatee Cove was a pleasant surprise. We have stayed here before, but not in the summer. The Camp Hosts and the Outdoor Rec, MWR folks were all courteous and helpful. Always willing to talk and offer advice about the local area. As mentioned in an...
17 – 28 June 2017, Earle Deer Run RV Park, Navy Weapons Station, Colts Neck, NJ I could not find a good GPS street address for the post. I used 201 Hwy 34S, Colts Neck, NJ. That address is North of Hwy 18, the post is South of Hwy 18. From Hwy 18 go South on State Route 34S about one half of a mile, the post will be on your left. The main gate is as described in...
I was not familiar with the post so I elected to take a route around the post. The address I entered into my GPS was 9060 Cookstown-Browns Mills Road, Ft Dix 08640. Not bad routing with a few low hanging tree branches, but still high enough to not cause any damage to my rig. The route I used was from the NJ Turnpike exit #5 to Burlington-Mount Holly Rd (CR 541S), left onto Woodland Rd (CR630), left onto Monmouth...
Fifth Street is a little difficult to recognize while driving down SR 1. I drove past the entrance and had to make a few turns on narrow streets to return. Going South on SR 1 you will pass the closed main entrance to the post. (There is a Huey on a stick at the main entrance.) The next street on the right is the entrance street to the post. It is approximately 100 yards from the main gate with...
We used the 24/7 Gate #1, (Ft Richardson/Arctic Valley exit from Hwy #1). The posted directions on this site were great, led us to the camp with no issues. We only encountered Active Duty Gate Guards, they were all friendly, courteous and professional. We elected to use one of the 30Amp sites (#41 - #45) for $27 per night rather than the 50Amp full hook up site for $33. Plenty of open sites while we were there. Lots of...
We used the 24/7 Main Gate, We only encountered Active Duty Gate Guards, they were all friendly, courteous and professional. After entering the gate follow the signs to the FamCamp. There are three roads when you turn into the FamCamp. The road to the right will lead you to the dump station and to 18 pull thru sites. I had to back out of pull thru site #13 because of the numerous trees. My rig was too large to...
We do agree with all of the comments made by benjamin2014. This FamCamp has been a great experience for us. Not homesteading, but we were able to extend our stay from the 2 weeks we scheduled to 7 weeks. We started our stay in the off season and it changed to high while we were there with an average cost of approximately $22 per day for the RV lot. Chris was outstanding, provided all required support and information about...
What a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. We were able to spend two weeks plus at this campground (27-30 Apr and 6-20 May 2016). We made two trips, one for three nights to get the lay of the land, the second visit was for two weeks. The location is wonderful, right on the lake with a back in site (#14) that allows us to view the lake through our front and side windows. We did have issues trying to...
