Overall our experience was great. The staff was helpful, courteous, and informative. LORA is secluded and as others have said you should bring what you will need for your stay. Millington RV Park is a converted mobile home park that has all the amenities of a full service base. Located behind the commissary, the other base facilities are a short distance, ie NEX, class 6 etc. The bathhouse is a small trailer converted to a bath house and laundry. Oak Grove has a 90 day limit that works out well for “Snow Birds” that are wintering there, but not so good for folks that want to stay a few days and move on. Raccoon Creek is a “Snow Bird” Mecca during the winter that was at capacity during our stay 23-28 February. MacDill is a full services base with excellent commissary, exchange, gym, golfing etc. The CG has an excellent bathhouse, laundry, mail service, marina, and beach area; all within walking distance. Lake Walker is a true diamond in the rough if you are looking for a quite, scenic, and relaxing time. We stayed in a site that overlooked the lake; a million dollar view. It is located in rural Mississippi, so recommend that you arrive with items that you will need for your stay. Our first visit to Key West was made much easier by reading over reviews on Military Camp Grounds, and talking to experienced “Snow Birds”. Patrick Air Force Base is a full service base that has commissary, PX, exceptional class 6, great (but crowded) golf course, and an exceptional gym that is conveniently located from the Camp Ground (CG). CG is on the far side of the flight line and takes 10 or more minutes to travel to most base facilities. Wi-Fi was unsat and don’t count on it. NAS Jacksonville was a good experience. If you are unfamiliar with NAS JAX it can be challenging getting to and from the RV Park. Directions on Military Camp Grounds are spot-on, it is more traffic lanes on an off base change during rush hour. Recommend arriving mid day or late evening. Full base support/facilities, and awesome PX with 5-Star Golf course, gym is small but adequate. Lounge at Golf Course is awesome, don’t miss....
This is a 5 star CG that will rival any plush resort that cost many times more. Located away from main side, it offers some seclusion on a beautiful lake. Golf course is a bargain and quite the challenge. Ok, many of the previous comments are spot on. At one time I suppose Lott’s Island RV Park was something that the base cared and supported—financially and otherwise. Excellent RV Park with paved roads, level concrete pads, close proximity to PX, commissary, golf (walking distance), and all other amenities expected at a full service installation. We enjoyed our stay at Ft Fisher in early January, 2015 The sites are large and full service, although several are backwards (ie electric, water,/sewer, and/cable on wrong side), and pads are narrow. This can be overcome by pulling straight in, unhook, and pull TV through grass to back of RV. Base facilities are closed in winter, and that was ok with us. Wi-Fi is…ify. Cable required a converter (provided by MWR office) but worked fine....
