Snowbird return to Fort Huachuca. At least our 10th stay here, Spring and Fall, maybe more. Great facilities on base & in Sierra Vista everything you'd need. I have fussed before about the Campground requirement for RV's. They must have an RVIA sticker in spite of the fact that many RV manufacturers aren't RVIA members. There are other org's who provide the same Federal & State Fire, Electrical, Safety, Road worthiness as RVIA. I've written to several US Senators but...
The government shutdown has chg’ed main gate hours so call ahead. Buffalo Soldier gate is 24/7 now. Campgrd no longer has cable. WiFi works but spotty. The park is 2/3 empty. Plenty of room. Base facilities seem to be normal hours & services. No big change since last reviewer's post.
New campground mgmr John, is doing a great job. Several new restrictions are in place to keep the place from becoming a trashy homesteaders’ trailer park. We battled mice and pack rats this visit. They nested in our tire covers, ate thru & tore them up. So I suggest not using them here this winter. 1st time we’ve had this infestation in our many winters here. That’s the only reason for a 4 in overall experience. Otherwise -great place to...
New floors in the office. Bathhouse renovation is completed. The pull thru dump station near the office is complete. The air compressor in the pull thru is operational again. The post is free of the mask requirement. In short- Apache Flats is just like everyone says-terrific. The only negative is long time camp mgmr Brenda B. Is retiring 1May 2022. She’s Gona be a real hard act to follow. She will be missed. Call the office before she leaves...
Stopped by to talk to Rv park office. Didn’t have our Rv with us this trip visiting family. Office still closed to the condition Bravo(?) but a very nice young man came outside to talk w/ me. He expects normal ops by 1 Oct. The park is almost full now. All services and amenities mentioned in past reviews are still current. Website driving Directions are still current too. Call in early mornings for “ no show” info....
Just arr’d after a pandemic/Canadian border inflicted absence of 17 months. I’m glad to say everything is just as nice as when we left. The office, Bathhouse/laundry is being re-tiled, but still functions in reduced hrs. There are several new traffic circles on post so watch yourself. Campground is about half full. But it will fill up. Post has mandatory mask rule indoors. Otherwise same wonderfully managed RV park as all reviews state.
All published info on this website is correct. A few tidbits of additional info: you can get a POBox on post, $46 for 6 months. Daily fee published is correct however monthly rate is $550. May be cheaper to pay for a month. Park is closed to new arrivals but laundry & bathhouse remain open. The whole Post is “Covid’ed “. The Ft. Huachuca FB page has been best source for current info. RV Park office is the only...
Stayed overnight in the Lodge. First time not in the RV campground. Cost of $70 was slightly less than La Quintas & Best Westerns but very different in amenities. I wanted to stay here once. And once is probably enough. The cabins are far nicer ( see old reviews). The RV campground had opened the day we arrived. No rv’s yet. Snow still in piles in the shade. I was told Price’s are the same as last yr...
Apache Flats’ great reputation is so widespread now, it’s not even necessary for me to add mine. This has been our “snowbird” home now for the past 2 yrs and I can’t see any reason to change. Hats off to Ft Huachuca!! “The” example for US Mil FamCamp’s.
All the excellent marks couldn’t be more well deserved. We had our Travel trailer “fall off of its tongue support” during a wind storm while it was in Ft H’s MWR storage lot. We were 1200 miles away when this happened. The wonderful folks here notified us and then releveled it and adjusted all the other Jack’s. We are so Sold on Apache Flats and all their excellent MWR staff. This is a great place to come stay. Trust...
Super experience. FamCamp mgmr is terrific. All recent rave reviews couldn’t be more correct. The fact that they take reservations as well, makes this one better than Davis-Monthan in my book.
Called from I -10 going west, at 9:30 am & was told there were 6 openings. Took the “less stress” directions. First visit since enlarged RV Park. Very nice. Good Sam couldn’t find cleaner, nicer bathrooms or showers. Great laundry & family room. Everything spic & span. The new PX on Post is the largest in the US. I simply couldn’t believe my eyes. So many name brand restaurants inside it, I can’t recall. The road noise Is a...
Pls read past reviews on BLORA. Not much has changed. I asked about the "newly refurbished' sites, but no one knew about them. Deer Park is still the only open lakeside area. Half the sites are full hook-ups. The other half are w/e only, tent only or closed. Inspect first. Bathhouse was cleaned up, pretty fair. Showers-the same. One washer and dryers in bathhouse. For the first time we stayed "up top" in the "cottage area" closest to BLORA...
Ft Sam still tops the list for Texas FAmCamps in my opinion. No Wi-Fi but other than that, it's about as nice as can be. The wife wants to say that the laundry rooms have brand new front loader washers and dryers ($1.50 per). A real nice upgrade since our last visit. I read several problems (below) about arriving, gates, entrance, signs, etc. If one follows the directions above, its a snap. Follow them exactly and you'll have no...
First stay at Lackland. No vacancies but office mgmr saved us the remaining "partial" space since we were driving down from Killeen that same day. Our "partial" site had everything but sewer. Bathhouse is clean & ok, but old in need of paint and repairs. Shower stalls could be replaced too. We used the commercial gate coming & going. The sites have big trees nearby making it a pretty RV park. Nothing to rally complain about or rave about...
First review for 2017. That said my last review stands. Great folks, clean restrooms/showers. The new section remains 90% nice and clean & 10% NOT. You know what I mean -longtimers w/ trucks being repaired and freezers on cinderblocks, clotheslines, etc. Manager tells me he's kicked out campers in the past who break the rules, abuse the facilities only to have their commander go over his head and get them re-instated, no matter what. Don't mean he's given up...
