This is a most awe inspiring place to camp. Coming from northern Minnesota to Lake Amistad was like in another world. The views and sunset were magnificent. The campsite was nice. Very quiet during the winter months. I could not imagine how it would be I the summer. A true hidden gem. We stayed at Laughlin for 1 night. Won't do that again. We stayed here at Lackland from Christmas Eve until Feb 18 with a short break in between. As a retired Air Force Vet I felt so at home in these surroundings. We truly enjoyed our stay. There are so many things to see and do in and around San Antonio. It is also a great location for heading out on day trips around South Texas.
