We stayed at LORA for a nice break on the lake. The 50amp sites are in a block together in the open. 30amp sites are spaced out in a different area set amongst the trees. LORA gives a discount for those with Golden Age Passport. This helps since the cost for 50amp is $30 a nite. This park is in a recreation area not located on a base. It is set out on one of the fingers of Lake...
We were here for one nite. The base is close to I-64. Takes longer to drive to the park once inside the gate. When you get to the gate, use the far right lane for entering. After entering, here are the directions from Outdoor Rec: turn left onto Seibert Rd, move to the right hand lane, gate is straight ahead, after entering gate , take left at first traffic light onto Golf Course Rd, stay straight ahead passing Golf...
We have stayed here for overnights in the past. This was our first time spending 3 weeks at the park. You can make reservations so you can make your plans for your visit. Checkin is easy. When you pull in to the park, there is the office. Easy parking for checkin. Staff is pleasant & helpful. The park is located under the pines. Large sites with picnic tables. We did have to watch for the burrs when the grandkids...
We stayed here over Christmas. Nice stay except for the rain. So we did experience a few evenings with spectacular sunsets. 2 different sections to the cg. We stayed in the Battleship section. Large sites. We had a pull-thru. Nice bath house with laundry room. Clean. I had lots of trails, etc. to hike or ride my bike. This cg is in a gated area but is not located on the...
We came to the camp for a short getaway. If one wants to disappear & not be found, Uchee Creek is the place! We requested sites near the playgrounds for our 3yr grandson's benefit. This is the front of the park. Our site was full of ant hills. I went to the office to see about a spray. I was told that they cannot give us anything & they cannot spray - but if we...
Just spent the weekend at Grassy Pond. There's a spot to stop at where the camp host will come out & check you in. You can go to the office later & take care of your bill. Beautiful setting under the trees. It was late October but the mosquitoes were still VICIOUS! Make sure you have repellent with you. Please know that the actual base is about 27 miles away. Grassy Pond is...
We stay here every year on our way to New Mexico. If you want a site you need to plan to get here EARLY in the day! No reservations made here! The office staff has always been courteous when I have called in making sure they still have spaces open. These are some of the oddest sites. Some of the sites have hookups on the opposite side from where one needs them. So, make sure you...
We stay here every time we head to Florida as it is a perfect place to stop & break up the trip for us. So easy from I-75. Beautiful setting. We knew we were going to get there after the office closed so had asked which spaces would be ours. Don't bother. They told us which space but when we were driving in toward the space it was taken! Luckily for us, one of...
We stay here every year as this base is convenient for visiting family. The new section is deep gravel & isn't dusty. Dust blows over from other areas of the base when the winds are going. The sites are wide and long. We like the setup as we travel with friends - the pullthrus are up & down (hard to explain) so that we are able to set up our rigs with our doors facing each...
We did a drive-through while we were in the area. Couldn't stay because they were booked solid. When we drove through we could not tell if there were any spots left for temporary stays. They all looked like long term. Nothing was labeled. It's a real shame as the setting is beautiful under the trees by the lake.
The commercial gate was not open when we came. At the main gate we drove around the pass bldg to get to the gate for easy access. It's locked. My husband, the driver, had scoped out the route at the gate & felt there would be no issue getting in. And it was fine. Our best friends, traveling with us are in a truck with a 5th wheel. They also came thru the main...
Yes, I gave this all 5s. It is out of the way but that is what we wanted. Quiet, set on the water amongst the trees. Uchee Creek is part of Ft Benning, but it is actually in Alabama (south of Phenix City), not Georgia with the base. If you want to go to the commissary or exchange the back gate is a few miles away but easy access. There is a marina and equipment available to...
We were here over Christmas week. Every spot that could be a site is. And when this park is full, they are stacked in like a cord of firewood! When you get your rig in, then park your personal vehicle, there is only room for one to drive on the road. We experienced a neighbor coming in about 200am & was having difficulty backing his trailer in because of a vehicle parked across from his spot....
