This is a no-frills FamCamp which is fine. Military FamCamps are not resorts. I love the security of FamCamps. When we stay on base, we know that like-minded veterans are sharing our love to travel. We stopped and stayed for a few weeks to spend time with family. The facilities are adequate. The base needs to outsource a contract for new washers and dryers. Every time we've stopped, one or two, and three were out of service this year....

Maxwell Fam Camp is a hidden gem waiting to be polished. We called ahead and talked with Rick to acquire reservations. On our previous visit in 2007, I failed to be impressed with the operation of the camp or its amenities. Fast forward to 2013; today we have new management and a new addition added to the park. With the energy and desire to make this Fam Camp the best it can be Rick is making a difference. The new...

Beautiful State Park like surroundings..... but not made for larger RV units. There is a remote piece of heaven nestled between the trees at Arnold Air Force Base at Tullahoma, Tennessee. Located on Dogwood Ridge, this Fam Camp is somewhat primitive camping but the views of the lake and the sounds of nature all around make up its lacking of a few of the amenities some of us have come to expect at a military Fam Camps. There are no...

We found an attendant sitting behind the desk with his feet up on the table. We visited for more than 30 minutes with the attendant Joe, and a co-worker. He didn’t move the entire time we visited. Not that impressed with the help or the park. Joe told us they had only one site and it was intended for a small 28 ft trailer or less available. He had no idea when there would be an opening. He pointed us...

Just visited Camp Shelby Fam Camp. There is little I can say that hasn't already been said in the previous comments. If you 'do the math' you will find the Fam Camp is bringing in over $88,000 dollars a year for 37 sites. Minus the cost of mowing, and electricty. We found the Fam Camp sitting on a beautiful pond like setting. Military Fam Camp, on one shore and on the other several beautiful cabins. I will have so much...

In Jan of 2013 we stayed one month at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX, several issues were brought to the attention of the Outdoor Rec Director Lisa Muse, Bldg 871. On 7 January 2013, we met with Ms. Lisa Muse to discuss the current operation and management at the Lackland AFB Fam Camp. As an experienced traveler we primarily use the Military Fam Camps. This is the first operation where I’ve felt several issues needed to be addressed. My first...

After spending two weeks at the Aviation Arbor RV Park, south of Belle Chasse, New Orleans; I have to relate our experience. The parks staff was delightfully, courteous, pleasant and went above and beyond the call of duty to answer any question. Staff provided maps and helpful hints, to maneuver around the massive interstate system in the city of New Orleans. They encouraged using the easy access to the city by way of the ferry. Staff provided maps...
