We were in the new part of this campground and love it. It was close to the Eubanks gate which made for easy on/off base. While there we had to have new brakes on the motorhome so there was some motel time, however we did leave our trailer and motorcycle at the campground. I would not have done this at a commercial campground. This is a campground we will stay in again when in this area....
We stopped here to visit San Antonio and this was the perfect place. Getting on base was the most difficult part of our stay, one must be very quick getting off the freeway at the correct exit since there are three separate exits within 500 feet. This campground is very well maintained, the office folks were very friendly and helpful. While we didn't have sewer, we were in the new part of the park which was the...
This is our second time here and it was everything we have come to expect from this base. Excellent commissary and BX. Close to two national landmarks, Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands. There are also there military bases, Holloman (AF), White Sands Missile Base (Army), and Ft. Bliss (Army) within 50 miles. Also are the cities of El Paso and Los Cruces as well as Alamogordo. The campground has a new area with water and...
We stayed here in a Motorhome. This campground is so much better than what they had, the spaces have a 60' concrete pad and the entire spot is approximately 80' with gravel at each end. Each spot has a picnic table and fire ring. There is a playground for the kids, laundry and bathroom/shower facilities. In a conversation with one of the outdoor rec folks I was told that there are plans for 10 more spots,...
If you're looking for a place to do the touristy thing this isn't it. Other than the beach there isn't much to do here. Getting on base with a motorhome is a pain but bearable, they do go through all the outside bays while you wait in a room with no windows. The commissary and BX are good. The campground is clean and the sites are large enough that I could leave the trailer hooked up....
While not exactly close to San Francisco it was perfect for what we needed. There are six spots in a horseshoe that were plenty big enough for my motorhome and trailer with space left over to park the car and motorcycle. The staff at the MWR were very friendly and competent. I will stay here again if in the area.
A very nice campground in a nice setting. While a little pricy it is worth the money. The only issues I had were the lack of 50amp and the tightness of the spaces. I will definitely stay here again sometime in the future. The staff was very friendly and the free pass to the aquarium was a nice bonus.
This location is far enough out to be peaceful while close enough to LA to make it practical for doing touristy stuff. The campground still has the homesteaders, one has been here since Feb and another has been here since Jun, what happened to the two week limit??? Another issue is that the base will not accept personal mail, therefore I would recommend removing the mailing address and insert NO MAIL! There also seems to be an...
