We stayed on a Saturday and paid $40 for 1 night on our trip west. They did not mention or try to charge us a 2 night minimum as stated above. TV service is Cable only so bring a long coax cable. We received over 75 channels, reception was better with a booster connected. There was NO local TV reception. Virgin MiFi 2200 internet worked well at this site. The site is sort of out in the middle of no...
New policy is The Navy Lodge at Great Lakes (847) 688-6675 now handles RV Reservations and the Marina handles the 2 overflow sites. We needed to stay here for 1 night on our trip out west. The Navy Lodge confirmed me for 1 site. We showed up and it was already given to some one else with no sites available so they directed us to the Marina who sold us 1 of the 2 overflow sites. Each had water and...
We stayed here July 2012. I called ahead to reserve 1 night because we needed to stay 1 night on our trip west. Reservations stated they were fully booked and would not have a site available until August 15 after the national shooting competition was over. We arrived 1 day later, decided to give it a try and there was 10 or more sites available :( The chowhall which is located 2 blocks from the RV site was open to...
Stayed 1 night in transit south. Nice place with spacious pull throughs. Very clean.
We approached the Famcamp and thought it was the only site however the rest of the sites are behind the trees of the 10 or so that you first see. July was very hot, not that many shade trees. Some sites had cones on them meaning the hook ups did not work. The camp host gave us the combo to the restroom/laundry. We paid for the site at mwr. We got around 5 stations using digital tv. MIfi2200 and cell...
Stopped for 2 days while in transit. We had a nice pull through site. Rode the bicycle trail. TV reception was ok. MiFi2200 and cell service worked. Retired Navy host was nice. On site store had beer and snacks.
I'm not quite sure they enforce the 6 month max stay. Too many long timers with permanent porches, etc. Too few sites to choose from. They have a nice short term site but no cable tv hook up. We had full hook up with cable. MIFI 2200, cell worked well. Excellent location.
Eglin had 2 separate RV sites to choose from. Robbins had full hook and internet, no cable but close to the laundry and rv office. It's basically in the woods. Postal point had an ocean view, cable tv, showers, no internet, cable tv, no sewage hook up. We chose postal point because we were only staying 3 days and had our own internet (miFi2200). Some of the postal point sites were sort of flooded with about a half inch of...
We arrived with no reservations, only wanted to stay 3 nights and they could not accommodate us so we went to Eglin. We did not realize they accepted reservations. It looked like a nice facility, GREAT location. The only thing i didn't like was the sites were very very small and your neighbor is very very close. No pull through sites (if you are towing).
We stayed 1 night on our way from Eglin to Patrick. Hosts were very nice. They accommodated us with a pull through site because I was towing a vehicle. Cable TV hook up worked fine. Cell and Virgin Moble MIFi 2200 worked well from the site.
2 Campsite Hosts plus the lady at the office provided plenty of support. Free Ice at the office. Restrooms were very hot and steamy. The site can be VERY noisy at times because the base firing range is only 50 or so yards away. Expect to hear loud gun fire throughout the day, even at 4am when they are doing their night fire. The site is a high vehicle traffic area because of all the activity going to and from...
Call before you arrive because there is no onsite support. When we first arrived, the GPS took us through the old RV site so we were quite shocked. The 6 digit combo they will give you is for a lock box located in the hallway of the restroom facility. Instructions were on the side of the box, key was inside that opens the locks to the power/water hook up. Cell service worked in some areas, Internet - my Virgin Mobile...
We stayed one night, in transit. Host was on site in #19. They had a few pull throughs so it was good for us because we were towing a vehicle. No stores on base or in the area so ensure you stock up on food, etc. It appears as though the site was designed by a non RV person. Hook ups are on the wrong sides of sites and scattered.
