Price jumped to $30/night; $210/week; $900/month. No trash cans or dumpster in Campground nor any trash pick up service. No firewood delivery to site as provided during previous 3-visits. New camp host, Sally, is very nice and attentive. No prisoners seen working cleanup. Grounds need grooming, shaggy. Check in and reservation process seamless. We are pleased to see MWR eliminate all the full-time liveaboards in the campground. We fully support military campgrounds as recreational vs housing. We hope MWR...
Second visit here (2011). Awesome FamCamp. Very clean and quiet. Facilities and utilities are perfect. Town of Grand Forks ND and East Grand Forks MN are great. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day visit.
Drove thru park. The first-come, first-serve policy in this case doesn't work well for the on the road traveller. The park announces daily site availability after 11am. There is a lineup of cars/SUVs waiting for camp host. The only RVs in line are local area. When we pulled in, having come down from Ft Wainwright in Fairbanks, park was full. Fortunately we were able to get a site at Elmendorf FamCamp (which was wonderful). Black Spruce camp host mentioned...
Absolutely top notch Military Recreation Facility. Impressed by all. RV park is tight, close parking; but, isn't a problem. Sad part is RV Park needs more spaces. - Addendum review regarding booked Seward Helicopter Tours and Dog Sled through Resort. Horrible experience. Required to split up from my spouse for help flight to and from glacier and dog sled. No adult supervision at vendor location. Ruined what should have been a memorable experience. Spent a lot of money for...
Checked in today. Wonderful experience. Camp Hostess was exceptionally polite and helpful. Originally went to Black Spruce RV Park (MWR ODR doesn't tell you if sites are available, you are told to drive to each park). Black Spruce was full. So, we came over here. Turns out we were fortunate as numerous sites (50A,30A) available. This is a great FamCamp! Downside is that long-termers take all 50A pull-thru sites... regardless of their actual power needs. Overall we will stay...
Location top notch. Staff friendly but not focused on RV Park. Double bookings, overstating reservation, taking any site desired, etc. Park full time resident in Itasca class A let their black dog run wild..never leashed. Told staff, they ignored. Dog nearly attacked two other guests. Overall great base and facilities. RV Park unkempt, lawn overgrown, sites dirty, messy.
Electric 20/30/50 & H2O on at 6 sites. Water only sites and dry sites also. We were fortunate to have Site 30 Electric and Water Pull-thru. Sanitary dump station convenient on access road. Laundry expensive IMHO, $3.25 wash; $2.00 dry. Base facilities superb PX, Commissary, Outdoor Recreation. Less than 2-miles downtown Fairbanks. Great place to visit.
#1 No 50AMP. #2 No sewer #3 Still looking for dump station #4 Laundry room closed #5 Signage on sites confusing. Even office confused when questioned Great looking lake. Base beautiful.
Easy reservation and check-in at Outdoor Recreation, Bldg B-104 (1st left on entering base). If you are in Big Rig or towing don't enter B-104 parking lot. No exit or turnaround. Instead pull into parking lot on right, Eagles Nest. Small PX. Chapel in Bldg 201. Call for schedule. FamCamp clean, comfortable. 50A FHU Pull Thru sites not spacious. 30A backin bigger. Overall we enjoyed our visit of 1-week. Only one place to eat on base, lunch only except...
Absolutely WONDERFUL RV park. Host, Betsy, is great. This place is spotless, inside and outside. Nice respectful neighbors. Very nice base.
Wonderful; bit challenging getting contact with Ms. Starr for reservations. Great MilFamCamp.
Loved this FamCamp. Great BASE facilities. Enjoyed the Dining Facility. Walking and Bike Riding with/without Dog was great. Yes, the bathhouse and laundry are not the most convenient; however, with FHU we were comfortable using our MH facilities. Stayed in the new PT section (Site 35). Staff were outstanding and very informative. The base MWR/Contracting folks need some leadership in that the lawn maintenance contract had no provision for "wet/heavy rain spring/summer" grass cutting. Thus,...
Hidden treasure; superb location; excellent locale; clean; new; neat; private. Although adjacent to housing area, this military campground was like its own world. As this is a NEW operation, the MWR folks are still learning the ropes on campground management (check-in; directions; facility information; etc.). APG is a big base with good facilities and recreation. Definitely rates a return visit.
Little wary at first glance because of previous reviews. What a wonderful experience we had. Staff, facilities, location were all superb. Definitely will return.
OK location. Limited in walking area. Surrounding area primarily non-retail, non-tourist business in our opinion. No real amenities or facilities. Small RV site is all there is. NO access to any facilities (gym, bldg restrooms). No water access of any kind or boat, kayak, canoe launching. MWR rep greets on arrival; that is extent of involvement. Access in/out not a problem. With only 4 RV sites on one side of base and 4 cottages...
Consider hidden jewel! Full hookups, great town for shopping, base facilities, super clean restrooms. Awesome. Only downside was smoking in office/lounge areas. Definitely return. Really 5-star.
