We used Gate 3 that is preferred. However, there are two openings. We came in from the road in the right side but stayed back hoping the gate guard would open that side for us. He let 5 or 6 cars come through without acknowledging us so my husband decided he wanted us to come through the left opening but our travel trailer stairs (folded up) scraped the concrete barrier and we had to back out. We also got...
Another great visit to Onslow Beach including shark teeth hunting and walking ad bike riding on the beach. Got to visit with grand nephew currently at school at Camp Johnson. Only about 10 RVs while we were there. We were moving up the coast and always stop here. Very friendly at the office. We accidentally left remote part of thermometer at table shelter and they offered to mail it to us. It can be tight backing in if campground...
We stayed at Bethany Beach one night while moving up the East Coast. Sites 1 to 12 are more suited to smaller rigs. They have new pull through sites 13 to 22 with 50 amp service, water, electric, and cable ($30 per night). They are next to the salt pond. The ones closer to the pond may be tighter for swinging into (backing in would be okay) but the others are fine. Running/walking track right next to the...
We stopped for one night on way from Carlsbad Caverns to San Antonio. Watch the directions carefully and follow the signs or you might end up in Mexico where the dam is. Marina was open for check-in. We kayaked for about 3 hours from the boat ramp. Large metal patio cover to help with the sun. Gorgeous sunsets. Wish all campers would keep their sites clean.
It is back to check-in at Camp Robbins for it and Postal Point rv camps. Hours are 8 to 3. Everything else seems to be the same. Nice bike/running path for quite a ways (from Camp Robbins). Nice Exchange and Commissary. Good choice in the food court. No diesel at the gas stations. West gate seems to be the best entrance.
Rate has gone up to $27 for 50 amp & Water. Good stop for FL to New England. Stop and visit West Point itself - museums, visitor center, chapel, etc. Also take a nice nature hike around Round Pond and then Wilkins Pond using the road right after the Laundry Building. We're Navy - lots of Beat and Sink Navy signs at the football stadiums.
