Great place for an over-night stay. And the price of $7 is a steal...but with only a laundry room as an amenity along with the full-hookups (well, except the water issues. Bring your own water for drinking & making coffee)...not worth more than a night or 2 stay....
What a great place to park for seeing the sights of Las Vegas and the surrounding area. The staff was friendly and helpful...The only down side, and this no one has any control over, is the weather.....HOT...HOT...HOT.over 100F the entire stay...but we managed to "donate" to the local economy thru playing the slots...just had to go in the morning when it was cooler...lol...The RV park is well maintained and does have shade trees, etc....Laundry room for our circle...
Great place to stay while seeing the sights in the Black Hills, the Badlands, and Rapid City. Camp Host, John, and his lovely wife, Maria, were the best. This is a very busy place in the summer and being a "1st come, 1st served" no reservations campground, you'd better plan to arrive early, like between 10am and 12 Noon cause they fill up fast. (recommend calling about 5 - 10 miles out to check availability.) Great commissary and PX/BX...
This morning we began our next "Adventure" as full-timers by lovingly waving good-bye to our 4 year tour as Camp Hosts at Ft. Stewart, GA's Holbrook Pond Campground. Except for a 1 yr. off in 2008-2009, we have been winter Camp Hosts at Holbrook Pond since Oct. 2007. We have so enjoyed serving you, our fellow Retirees and Active Duty, and hope we made your stay at Holbrook Pond a great experience. We are leaving to do more traveling of...
You can't call this campground a famcamp or a recreation center when you allow dod civilians to stay there for 7 or 8 years running......should be called dod housing area!
Arrived on a Sunday. Office is closed on the weekends, but sign in window told us our site number. Sites are well spaced, but as said before, all hookups located at the back of the site. Would have given a 5 in the cleanliness/hospitality, but when we checked in on Monday found the office staff stand offish and not very friendly...Someone could have at least cracked a smile....Pet walking is limited to way over on the other...
We only visited...did not stay....Yes, the price per day has gone up to $22/day/over $600/month. Sites are all back ins and close together, which looked to us as a tight turn during backing in. Peggy & Dick do a good job running the place. For $22 a day, thou, we would look at other places to stay in the area....
We hadn't been here in about 4 years, but needing a place to rest and relax, basically, just to chill, we decided to visit. Easy reservations for our 3 night stay.....Most campers look like they are finishing up "wintering" here as there wasn't much movement of folks moving in or out......Didn't use the laundry this time, but have been told it's still in the same place. We do have a negative to report though....As pet owners we are always...
Stayed on our way to summer home base. The lake is beautiful and the whole camping area is quiet...except for the occasional "sounds of freedom" training. The staff is helpful and friendly. The camping area itself is about 2 miles from the office, but that's okay. No fully functioning bahthouse (old-fashion outhouses) or laundry available, and the hook-ups are located weird..we lucked out by getting the "rare site" with them located on the correct side of the camper,...
Great place to take in the ocean. Gives you a feeling like the outer banks but not as commercialized. Great restaurant called the treehouse.tappa food. Only negative is the dump station by the office. They have a orv-26 site connected with with RV dump PVC pipe. When we were there an RV was at this site. There is no way I could have moved my 5th wheel close enough to dump. Thank goodness I had a portable sewage tote with...
Wow, what wonderful improvements made here...new 50amp service to all RV sites and new water lines, too!! Still no sewage, but we can still hope...lol...The campground and pond area have been under-going major improvements along with the office/rental building. Should be finished mid-May 2009. Rumors of closing Holbrook Pond campground are false!! They have been re-modeling all winter and have been in business the whole time. As stated above, until the office is finished, check...
Very nice new Campground..or more like a RV Park....in general we love it here! We'd really like to express our opinions to the Navy, but no ICE link here....The staff is friendly and well informed on area interests. And the resorts, casinos, and beach is very close. On the down side....There is NO overflow here....office staff stated that MWR won't let them use the space at the entrance to the park for this...Geez, it's an ideal place! And...
Nice place for the winter, if you can handle the wind......fishing was iffy, but word was that Ike changed the tides, etc...maybe better at a later date...we enjoyed the convenience of the Club on Base and the shopping....We didn't feel that the commissary and Exchange were small...good side for a small base....I gave only 3 stars for Cleanliness and Hospitality because the laundry and bath/restrooms were not kept up as well as they should have been, until the New Camp...
Agree with previous post...Nice RV Park. Jim and Barb great camp hosts. Free, new washers and dryers are wonderful. Points of interest and shopping easy to find. Small PX on post has small, but well stock selection. The new "short term" (2 weeks max.stay) park looks nice, but not open yet as they are waiting on new picnic tables and grills. Half the park is occupied by regular Civilians, but it is on...
Arrived with pre-assigned site over the phone from MWR office, so parked the 5er then went to the MWR office to pay for our 2 nite stay...Price has gone up here to $18/nite...also no cable...this was listed as a hookup....that's okay, only takes us 20 minutes to set up the dish....great location for DirecTV.....the Park, can't call it a campground, but it is a RV Park.... very nice. Community/laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers...$1.25 to wash...75 cents to...
This is what "Camping" is all about....Wooded campsites, fire rings/pits, and a fishing pond...sites are concrete and mostly level...upgrading work for 50amp service in progress...was informed that more upgrades were in the plans soon.....great location for site-seeing of Savannah and surrounding area.....MWR manager very nice and open to suggestions.....on-post facilities very nice and large.....on the down side would have to agree that the road in campground is dusty....a little water on it for dust control would be nice and maybe...
