We had just picked up our new camper that was made in Canada, but due to the Coronavirus border crossing restrictions, we had to pick it up in Montana. Helena looked to be a good spot for our first night of camping, so I was happy to see that there was a FAMCAMP here. Unfortunately, I noticed the date on the FAMCAMP website said it was only open until Sept 30 and we were deep into October. Decided to give...
Didn't camp here, but toured the facilities today. A few sites near ice pond that would fit a 20 ft trailer easily, but may need extra leveling blocks. No hookups at all, but they do have port potties in the loops. Very quiet and out of the way. Payment is either money order or check for $20 per night at the box at the pavilion. You can kayak or canoe on the lakes and there are trails to wreckage...
We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay for just one night on our way to FL. We have stayed here before and it was nice, but when I called to make a reservation I was told that the daily rate is now $30 for military, and $40 for the public. More than the FL state parks even with their reservation fee.
We had stayed here a few years ago and weren't too impressed back then. What a difference a few years makes! The hosts, Larry and Vickie have done a great job cleaning and maintaining this FAMCAMP. Larry came over to greet us as we arrived for our 2 night stay, and invited us to a free Labor Day hot dog gathering the next day. The FAMCAMP now also has canoe and kayaks to rent and bikes. The restrooms were...
We were going to be in FL in Feb and just happened to check to see if any of the 4 sites were available while we were in FL. We got lucky and got site 2 for 4 nights. Marathon is a great central location for visiting the keys. We got a FL state park pass and spent a lot of time visiting the state parks nearby. Our neighbor in site 3 mentioned that FL provides free lifetime state...
We wanted to head to Key West this year and heard that they have never turned anyone away, so we headed there. A few days before we got there we heard rumors that they were now limiting the number of people that they could accept, so we were a little concerned we might drive all the way down there and be turned away. We decided to depart the Everglades while it was still dark, and got to Key West before...
We were visiting relatives that were scattered all over the San Antonio area. Lackland was a handy location since it was the closest FAMCAMP to our 2 year old Grandaughter. We did not have reservations, but it seems there were at least 6 empty full hookup sites available the whole week, plus all the W&E and overflow sites were available. The washroom was clean and had free front loading washers and dryers. It was also air conditioned, had a TV...
