First: I'll focus on getting a Big Rig to the RV Park. The closest Gate (Winans) is CLOSED. Recommend the 24/7 Gate off of Walters close to I-35 1) Through the Gate take 1st right on Wilson St. 2) Follow it and it turns to Garden. 3) Where garden goes into housing, turn right on William Hardee Rd. 4) Left on Williams Way 5) Right on Nursery Rd. (road sign...
Directions correction: No longer Exit 5; Now Exit 49. Cost is $25. Easy in and several sites open at 11 am Sunday. Site 18 had good view of NE sky for Starlink. Walmart only 10 minutes away. Didn’t use any facilities, just an overnight stop.
F. E. Warren entrance is through Gate #5 (Central Ave, Exit 12 off of I-25). The area around the Gatehouse has been reconfigured so you can’t go straight onto Central as the directions state. You now intersect Rogers after passing the gatehouse. You make a right onto Rogers and then the first left onto Central. From there the directions are still accurate.
The old campground, just off the entrance, is nearly vacant and overgrown. The back section of the newer area seems to be long term. The front area more transient and was perfect for our needs. It was clean and well maintained. We avoided the “Tunnel” by using directions posted elsewhere and settings gps to 14’ clearance. This way in was fine. I couldn’t post a video of the 13’7” tunnel taken from the car. It’s...
This Camp is expensive and I got in before they raised the rates. We were in site #5. The Verizon signal was weak but tolerable. The wifi worked ok most of the time. The people in the Office were friendly and helpful. The sites are well maintained and lawn ornaments etc. are not allowed. Although it says there is a 14 day limit, it appeared more than a few sites were occupied by active duty assigned there. Most days...
We have family in the area and stay here often. In older reviews, the quality and courtesy of the staff came into question; the current staff are A+. Very helpful and accommodating. Trying to juggle sites to fit your needs. There are many active duty and contractors here; however, there always seems to be a few sites available (with the exception of Memorial Day Weekend & Navel Academy Grad Week). The stay limits seem to be enforced and you...
Some updated arrival info and clarification: The GPS showed the Truck/RV entrance as School Rd. vs. Anvil. It appears to change to Anvil just after the gate. Once they allow you to proceed, they will lower the large barricade straight ahead - #3 in our case. You NO LONGER GO TO MWR to check-in. You check-in at the FamCamp Office, so make a left onto Rescue from Atlas. I called twice before arriving and the lady had a...
I found the previous instructions a little confusing, so I hope to give you more details here. As stated, enter through the Main Gate off of IL-137 (Buckley Rd). Just ID's were needed. Once you depart the Main Gate, go 0.2 miles straight ahead (to the end) and make a Right on Sampson. Then get into the left lane and make an immediate left onto Decatur. Go 0.1 miles and make a Right onto Mahan...
This can be the one of the most expensive Military Parks in the system; however, costs can be brought into line with the weekly rate and a back-in site. The staff are friendly and, I was surprised, when they called us the day before our Sunday arrival, to provide gate codes and info. BTW - operations at the RV park seem unaffected by the shutdown. The area is well maintained with regular lawn maintenance and trash collection....
We often stop here and spend the extra few dollars for Lakefront. The staff is very friendly and the on-base facilities are excellent. The Camp Host can handle check-in after hours. FYI - the Campground has propane and the NEX Fuel Station just inside the Stimson Gate (North Entrance) has diesel; however, the overhead clearance is 12.0'. St. Marys is a nice little town and St. Marys Seafood on Osborn has excellent seafood at a great value....
First, if you have a DOD Decal, I would recommend using the Reese Rd. gate off of MD 175. The Park is well maintained and quite popular, even in October / November. The Office staff were very friendly and helpful. The wifi is extra at this time, but that is suppose to change at some time in the future. The price is high, but can be mitigated by opting for a back-in, getting the weekly rate,...
The FamCamp is several miles from any of the gates and the gates are several miles from anything. It is an oasis is a sea of dry fields in July. However, it is shaded and watered and the host (bonnie) is very attentive. It's an hour to Sacramento and 30 minutes to Yuba City (which has all the retail you could possibly need). The Verizon cell and data worked well. At $15/night it's a good...
The town of Fallon is 15 minutes from Base and is fairly large with most any retail you need. The Base has some real perks including free 1st run movies (theater is 5 minute walk from the RV), you are welcome to use the chow hall (galley) at $4.55 per person for lunch and dinner, nice laundry at $1 per load. There was no training during our visit so jet noise was minimal. The only negative is that most...
We stayed here 10 days in our Motorhome. Be certain to use the Roy Gate to enter. You can exit by most any gate. Your best bet for reservations is email Howard in advance. Howard was very responsive. We made certain to arrive when he was on duty so no issues there. The on-site host in the 1st unit as you enter, seemed to be very helpful when Howard was off duty. The...
The Park has a mixture of open sites and older shaded sites. We opted for the shade this time. While the Park is well maintained, the Staff make this A+. They organize a variety of activities for the campers. We were there for the (every) Friday AM bike ride and a canoe/kayak trip on the Concord River. Every evening at dusk there is a community camp fire which gave us a chance to meet many...
Camp Perry is located near some popular tourist locations such as Cedar Point Park. Perhaps that's why the cost is a little high at $28.82/night? The RV area is open field with few trees; however, very nicely maintained. Did not use the restrooms so no comment. Tennis courts are in need of repair. The park was 80% empty during our stay, just before the 4th of July weekend. It was nice enough, but too...
