Typical of Air Force FamCamps, overall in need of maintenance on just about everything, overall good FamCamp but not great. The Truman Gate (24/7) located on the north side of the the base is Big Rig friendly and does not have any barriers or obstacles. Very nice military FamCamp. Just a general observation, the Navy seems to have some of the best FamCamps. They are always well maintained and in good locations. Pelican Roost is a good example of this. Pelican Roost is located where the St Johns river empties into the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville Florida. Overall not a bad little Coast Guard MWR campground. The $30 rate per day is not bad for the keys. Although Sigsbee is cheaper. Sites are a little narrow for a motorhome with 4 slides. Water and electrical are on the top of a 4 foot cement pillar at the rear of the site. A large oak tree near the rear our our site (RV3) limited how far I could back in. Mostly people staying here seem to be parked for months at a time, kinda cluttered and run down looking. The most sites need maintenance. It appears that someone has tried to get a phone system installed, but lots of wire just laying around not hooked up to anything. Mosts sites in the main area are 30 amp.
