Always different here. Lottery applies to RV sites...no, only for the trailers...no, applies to RV sites AND trailers. Pull-through sites; $30/night...no, $40/night. Park in an empty site if no one's scheduled to arrive? Yes....ah, No. Not too many years ago, these sites were $22/night. Granted they're W/E/S sites, but essentially a parking lot arrangement. I guess, I'll keep coming down here. There aren't many options, particularly during the off season. ...
Looks like the rate increase for BBTS has come to fruition. Pull-thru sites will experience a 33% increase; from $30/night to $40/night. Additionally, the RV sites (as well as has been the case, the trailers) will now be included in the lottery system. The attached pdf (above) spells all of this out in detail. Pay particular attention to the periods of non-availability. My past experience tells me that these dates aren't necessarily periods of military activity but times when the...
Staff was very attentive to answering email prior to and during our stay. RV Latrine is now closed. RVers are to use the Male/Female Latrines in the same building. Both newly renovated and are pristine. Jack up the quality of the base WiFi and the sites will be truly worthy of the $30/night cost.
Just tried to make reservations for the last two weeks of July and was told that EVERY site was booked for a 'youth camp'. Not happy. If I can find something else in the area, I'll stop by and verify this. I certainly hope that this wasn't BS.
This visit was to stay in one of several mobile homes on post ($66/night). I've used these a few other times and are convenient for those times when we stay with either a number of family members or another couple. Our RV (truck camper) is best used for just the two of us. The trailers are very nicely fitted out with bed linen, very minimal kitchen supplies and three (?) bedrooms and two baths. Minimal kitchen...
Another relaxing vacation at BBTS. Always a good time. Surprisingly, the post wasn't a sharp looking as normal. It was mowed during our visit but prior to that, hadn't been apparently for some time. Grass under the picnic tables (of occupied sites) was never mowed. This can be an issue as numerous ticks were picked up in this longer grass. Additionally, I would suggest that efforts are initiated to remove the resident Canada geese...
I come here often. There are very limited "amenities and facilities" but the beach is a couple of blocks across the road. What's not to like. The pads in the older section have been recently redone - all smooth concrete. The post is kept in immaculate condition and the staff are very accommodating. 24/7 security during the summer season. Whenever we're not hosting our 'grand dog', we're here.
Another excellent weekend at BBTS - a truly undiscovered gem. Brought the kayaks this time and spent two relaxing hours on Salt Pond as well as the canal to Ocean View. Walked to the beach for another several hours. 24/7 gate security now so there's no trying to remember a gate code. Nothing to do but with the beach so close, there's no need for them to provide entertainment. Supposed to be WIFI available but at...
Another wonderful 3-day weekend at BBTS. Post has never looked better; clean, trimmed up and spruced up. New landscaping and fresh paint. Even the RV bath house seemed to be cleaner than ever. New shower stalls, I think, too. Not a bunch of amenities; no PX or commissary but a wonderful place to relax.
A small campground but absolutely beautiful on the shore of Great Pond. The bathrooms are small as well but if you get up early, there's never a wait. If you want a lot of entertainment this might not be for you but if you like to sit, read and relax it's ideal. The only drawback which is also part of its charm is that it's a long way from any where: 1.5 hours to Acadia National Park...
It would have been nice to know that the campground bath house was closed. (Hopefully for renovations) But the substitute facilities were not up to par - paper towels in the sinks, numerous mops and buckets stored in the showers. If I had know it would be open bay facilities, I would have brought my boot camp body instead of my old saggy retired body. Still a nice place to use as a starting point for shopping...
It's convenient to the beach although across a busy highway and a couple more blocks. The price is right ($22/night with sewer, water, cable, electricity). But it's essentially a parking lot. Wonderful place to use as a base for a beach visit. Hardly anyone there when we stayed (in a truck camper), bathrooms were clean and check in was a breeze. The sites could have used some mowing but the asphalt pad was level and...
