Nice campground, good value (as most military campgrounds are). Located on Lake Wateree, not inside of a military facility. Lots of lake access for boats and other watercraft. You can rent kayaks and canoes to go boating for $25/day. Dedicated swim area, although no lifeguards and the beach was a little unkempt - lots of goose droppings on the sand. The road through the campground is winding and a little narrow, so if you have a...
Camp Carlson itself is quite nice. Very well kept and picturesque. Sites were nice, laundry facilities were clean with lots of machines. Plenty of room for kids to ride bikes, lots of playgrounds, and a nice trail along the river/creek. Fort Knox has a nice water park for $7 for the entire day, but they have odd hours for when they keep their gates open. You'll need to get Google Maps to take you to the...
Boy, we had a great time here! We arrived June 19th (Federal holiday) so no one was around to check us in. Our reserved site (site 17) was beautiful - right on the water! - but we also have a one-year-old, and my wife didn't like being so close to the water with a toddler. We just "claimed" a safer site and contacted staff once they were back at work next day, no problems. Sites are...
Stopped here for a few days to break up the drive back home from KY. Nice little campground! Dobbins AFB is a small reserve Air Force base. I've stayed at several military campgrounds, and they tend to be either 1) an open field with spots, or 2) more of a campground feel. Dobbins has more of a traditional campground feel. No commissary but there is a PX and a Class 6 on post. Reading other reviews,...
Nice bare bones facility, no complaints. We generally stayed here when I was down for BA weekends, so I personally prefer Willow Pond to Range 14 due to it being right in the middle of Fort Dix. You are located on a main road on Dix though, so you get more traffic noise than at Range 14.
Stayed here multiple times. It gets the job done, no complaints.
Nice park! We were there just prior to Christmas. Place was packed, but somehow silent and rarely saw anyone around the park (this is a good thing). Did get barked at by some bossy busybody retiree for not being sufficiently hooah, but that's to be expected if you're staying on military facilities ;-)
Nice little park. WAY nicer than Falcon's Nest (about 30 minutes further east on the same road). If you have your choice, pick Weston Lake. The lake is beautiful, didn't do much other than eat and sleep at the park, but it was a nice visit. About 20-minute drive to access FT Jackson - you have to drive past two closed gates to get to the main gate.
Stayed here multiple times. Nice little park. It's way back into the range area on Fort Eisenhower, so it's a bit of a drive to get to it from the gates, but it's pavement the whole way. Roughly divided into two sections, one out in the open, one back in a more wooded area. As of February 2025, there's still evidence of damage from Hurricane Helene (Augusta got hit HARD by the hurricane, lots of fallen tree...
After reading previous reviews I was a little curious what we'd find when we got there. The place was clean, organized, staff were non-existent (it was Christmas time after all!) but we could reach them by phone if needed. It's a fairly bare bones RV park, essentially just a series of concrete pads in an open field. It's not sexy but it's very functional. Pulling an RV through heavy urban traffic (we came in from the...
Wow! One of the nicer military campgrounds we've stayed at so far. Pricier than I've become accustomed to for an Army campground, but for the price you certainly get more at Uchee than the typical "open field with concrete pads" I've found at most locations. Nice wooded sites, playgrounds, pool, and the grounds are big enough you can go for a proper walk without leaving the campground. Our visit was late December, so the campground was pretty vacant,...
