RV park is convenient to use as a base of operations for visits to Reno and Tahoe. The RV park is all gravel, with long slabs for RV parking. The restroom/shower has separate keys for the men and women facilities and are pretty clean. There appear to be several long-term homesteaders. Be sure to call for reservations. If checking in after 1700 hrs or on weekends, you must call the NGIS office at 775-909-4902 to have the base police...
Nice park with lots of things to do. This can be a vacation destination and looks like a lot of people use it. This is big-rig friendly. The wifi in the campground area is not working due to a lightning strike over a week ago. Apparently the park is at the mercy of the provider. Beware of big hump crossing railroad tracks on the Sandown RD leading to the park. You may hit bottom as you cross. ...
Nice pull-thrus, clean, manicured park. Nature trail nearby. Express store located with walking distance. Bathhouse needs to be updated, but was reasonably clean. Since I did not check in at the office - used self check in at the campground - I did not get any information about facilities on base. A map would have been nice. If passing through the area again, I will stay here.
This is one of the better military campgrounds I have visited. Sites are large and level on concrete pads. WiFi and cable are excellent. It is a little out of the way but if you are just passing through, it is perfect. No diesel on the base. Commissary and BX are nearby.
Great location for seeing the sights both east and west. Shower facilities are clean. They are in the process of upgrading the washers/dryers and now costs $1.00 to wash and .75 to dry. There is wifi but it is impossible to get on line - apparently some folks insist on downloading netflix. Shopette is convenient, has diesel fuel and is with walking distance. I would stay again.
Nice place to park your RV. Staff is friendly, restrooms/showers are clean, price is right and close to lots of things to do in the area. The only drawback is that it takes a while to get off the post since it is all the way back of the post. There are hiking trails on the fort, and a riding stable the offers trail rides. Be sure to call and ask what days are available for rides,...
We stayed here for 10 nights. We considered this a good location to take in the sights of upstate New York, the Adirondacks and the Thousand Island area. Be warned - the reservation process is a bit of a nightmare. Apparently, the computer system double books or drops reservations. My reserved spot was occupied so I had to park in another spot and move the next day. The "campground office" is not occupied yet even though...
We stayed here for 7 nights. Campground is clean, as is washroom and laundry. The campground is off base, but Fort Knox is just 3-4 miles away. No diesel fuel on base. Great location to take in some of the area sights. We will stay again if in the area.
We stayed here for a full 7 days. The campground has large back-in spaces - no pull thru's. The shower/restrooms facility is clean and well-maintained. The staff has enough literature on local things to do, you walk out of the office with information overload. The Wi-fi worked reasonably well - only one evening did we have a "unable to connect" situation. It is set up on the Navy's free on-line system - register with...
We stayed here a couple of days in April as we toured the State of Louisiana. There are a lot of long-term folks in the campground. Very few spots are available for short-term guests. Bathhouse is clean. Clubhouse/office is well-appointed. Large TV and PC available for use to check e-mail, etc. Also, they sell beer and a few other necessities in the office. There is a mini-mart about a mile and a half...
My wife and I stayed here for several days while visiting relatives in Austin, Cedar Creek and Houston. This is a great location to see several sights in the area. We stayed on the Randolph AFB side - could not get long term stay on the Fort Sam Houston side of the Joint Base Recreation area. The shower/restroom facility is quite a distance to walk especially if disability hinders you. The closest restroom was a "one...
Nice campground! Spaces are wide and easy to navigate. The gentleman running the office, David, when we checked in was very courteous. Likewise, the next morning when we asked to extend one more day, he was just as courteous and helpful. The showers were clean and the overall appearance of the campground was excellent. There is a Express store close by with gasoline and diesel. I would rate this park a "5" if wi-fi was available...
We stayed in the new area. Large, level gravel pull-thrus that can accomodate any size RV. Laundry Facilities are very limited - 3 washers and 2 dryers and no change machine and the office does not make change either. Go to the bank before doing laundry. The new bathrooms are adequate with stainless steel one-piece commodes, but the water temperature in the showers is impossible to regulate. The showers have "hot water on demand"...
We stayed here for two weeks passing time and waiting for snow to melt in Colorado. The park hosts, George and Vickie, are great. They are helpful if you need information on things to do in the area and they keep the showers/bathhouse/laundry spotless. We were able to pick up three or four TV stations (only 1 major network) on antenna with HD TV. No wi-fi in the park. Dump Station only on the way out/in. The...
Nice park and the price is the best value for any military campground. With the Golden Passport or Golden Access Pass the daily rate is reduced from $12.00/night to $6.00 night. Access through the Cargo Gate is tricky on the weekends. The Cargo Gate is closed on Saturday and Sunday and is probably closed after working hours. I had to call the base info, who in turn transferred me to base security. I had to wait...
Convenient stopover for travelers passing between 1-40 and 1-10. Small campground with most spaces occupied more or less on a permanent basis (DOD employees and some active duty military personnel. Wifi is iffy at best, and laundry facilities are limited to a couple of washers and dryers in one building and a couple of washers and dryers in another building. The price is a bit high for the limited services offered. Plenty of overflow--nearly unlimited. ...
