Our second stay to visit our daughter who is in training here. Weather a bit cooler but one of our favorite campgrounds. This time with fall temps the water is nearly crystal clear, such a change from the summer brown. Camp hostess Deb came to our rescue and recommended Blue Angel Tire and Automotive out the back gate for us. We needed some repairs on the RV and they took us right in on a Monday morning. Doesn't get any...
We called as they were closing the office and requested a pull thru for one night. They told us no problem, gave us the gate code and told us to check in at Host #2. We arrived around 2130 and the host checked out ID card and gave us a form to fill which he collected to turn into the office. Easy to locate pull thru even in the dark. Noted this trip a lot of construction materials at the...
We had originally planned to stay 4 nights, but had to leave early. This is a beautiful campground in the woods, plenty of space between sites and great fishing. Unlike most campgrounds they have there own section for permanent party further back in the woods. You can't fault the staff who do and excellent job but some issues need attention. The laundry facility had 6 washers and 3 dryers working with only 1 of the 3 worth a hoot! Internet...
First time staying at Oak Grove and it won't be our last. Sites are a bit tight, but the bathroom and laundry facilities are very good and cleaned twice a day. The staff and Camp host's Frank and Deb were awesome to meet and work with. Saturday was grill and karaoke night and we all had lots of fun. Short walking distance to the beach as others have stated. Signage could be better locating the campground entrance which we passed...
We stayed here June 7-11 in spot 49 next to the newer bath house. They have 6 restrooms (3 on each side) and a laundry room with 3 washers and 3 dyers, cost 75 cents each. Bathrooms were cleaned daily and in very good condition, while the water pressure in the shower wasn't as high as the sink it was still very good. Do heed the warnings on using a pressure regulator at your site. We arrived late on a...
Highly recommend using the Commercial entrance at Gate 3 with large RV's. We met with the current camp host Destiny Newman/757-462-7282. It is now Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. The campground still needs improvement and we'd like to see wi-fi free. Base amenities though are extensive. Nearly new commissary and Navy Exchange. Beautiful golf course and beach with shelters and tables right on base. Great watermark/pool also.
We stopped here looking for a new site from Williamsburg, VA. The campground has gone down hill. As previously noted drainage is nonexistent. The bathroom facilities are ok but limited space in washer/dryer area. Unable to talk to camp host since they had the door shut and apparently a really good BS session going on. Expected much more from an USAF FamCamp, we won't be stopping here.
