The campground and laundry were all very neat and clean. The ladies room had a lot of water on the floor but I couldn't seem to locate the source. Perhaps a leak in the wall somewhere. We had a gravel site with 30 amp and water. $17 a night seems high when it is the same for a full-service site with cable. New front-loading washers and dryers at no charge was a very nice surprise. All the paved sites were full but there were plenty of gravel sites available.

CG and facilities are very clean. Love the FREE laundry, clean and new machines. Staff was accommodating and very helpful with directions to off base attractions and on base amenities. We had a site without S/CATV, but paid the same rate, seems there should be a price break, but for $17/nite you really can't complain.

Very nice and clean. Manager is former AF and quite friendly. All full hookup sites have concrete pads and are back-in only. Water/electric sites are gravel but are pull-through and very long. These were almost all empty. Though the CG does not take reservations, there were several full hookup sites available when we arrived. It is a fair trek from the gate RVs have to use but from the CG the BX, Commissary, etc. are not far away. We'd definitely stay there again.

Very clean. Really nice host. Lucky to get a spot. Got the last two (we brought a guest with us). Perfectly level (one of the new asphalt pads). Forget getting one with sewer, a tree, etc. At least 10 of those are occupied by people who have taken up permanent residency. One person (civilian) told us they "lived" there are were going to be there for at least six months while waiting to get their disability. They also told us that someone else was going to be there for the next 20 months waiting to retire! Would have given it all 5's if not for that issue.

D.B. left this review using the Directory software: I had a hard time finding the Growden RV friendly gate and it's a long way the famcamp. I've added a GPS waypoint at the intersection of Acme and Growdon to help locate that entry point to the RV gate. It's a long drive from there to the famcamp with lots of twists and turns. It was a help when a phone call to a freindly voice at the famcamp advised it was all right turns. Class B's and small Class C RV's can save some miles and nerves by entering at the Luke gate (N29.3937 W098.62215) at Luke Blvd. and Military Dr. The famcamp itself is well kept with a freindly and helpful staff. Still a little work to be done on the new 30A/W only sites. Only one minor problem I could identify was the concrete pad we stayed on (site 15) was not level. Had to hike the front wheels off the ground to get the RV level. Nice campground at a reasonable price.

New spaces only have 30amp/water, and the price is the same as for the full hookups, 50amp/water/sewer/cable. All other famcamps I have visited have two tier pricing, base on services a sites. Also if you get a 30amp/water site and wish to move to a full hookup site when it comes available, it is who gets to the vacated site the quickest after being vacated. This lack of organization can cause some interesting situations. Signing a request list would eliminate some ill feelings. Nice park and great location for visiting San Antonio.

Stopped by to update the RV Park information and check on the new sites. During our visit, all of the FHU sites were occupied, but there were a few W/E sites available. They were in the process of planting grass at the new sites. Camp host was pleasant and informative. This is a large base with lots of facilities available.

R.J.H. left this review using the Directory software: We enjoyed our stay. It was the second time in three months. I was disapointed that the new sites were water/Elec only and the elec. was 30 Amp. Did not bother us, however I bet in the heat of summer you will need both ACs going.

They just opened the additional 12 sites, except that 2 of them are still blocked off. The new sites have water and 30 amp.electric only. The laundry room has 4 washers and 4 dryers, but they are free. They also have 3 over flow sites with no hook ups at all. Not sure, but heard that the 12 new sites cost the same as the full hook-up sites. The full hook-up sites have 30/50 amp. electric, sewer, water, and cable TV. They have a 30 day max limit if the park is full, but also a fairly fast turn around.

Free wifi, free laundry, nice location, large sites -- what more could you ask for? We really liked it. Ft Sam and Lackland are definitly the campgrounds to stay at when in San Antonio. We left thru the Growden Gate which is the way they want you to leave. Not sure if this where they you want to come in at or not. We entered thru the East Lackland gate directly onto Luke St and didn't get yelled at. Very nice campground, reasonalby close to BX and commissary.

Nice RV park. I heard rumurs they planned to expand to cover the closing of a nearby AFB. Although it's probably fair, we didn't care for the 2 washing machine limit. Sure makes laundry take twice or more as long. But they're free!

Very nice back-in paved units large enough for the big rigs. Campground was full and some overflow sites were in use when I was there. Even the overflow sites were paved. FamCamp needs to be able to hold more rigs.
