We had discussed WIFI awhile back -- and I can't find the thread -- but it should be in this section anyway. For those of you that were and still are interested -- Rick and I have been slowly putting together an overview of electronics (TV - WIFI - etc) but have been delayed by travel, web access, and recently some family business that gets in the way -- but we're getting there, and hope soon enough to have that for you guys -- hang in there !! We have HughesNet Internet AND DirecTV on one dish. This is the old "DirecWay" dish. It's larger than a TV dish. The dish is designed for the Internet access. But, there's an option called a "Bird on Wire" (BOW). This is a small arm bolted on that has the TV LNB. This uses the same dish as a reflector for both, the Internet and the TV.

Depending on what level and type of services you get, the cost is around $70/mo for the Internet and another $59/mo for DirecTV. We LOVE the system! There's different options to get a tripod system or an automated system. Many years ago, we splurged and got the roof mounted automated system.

For more information than you want, but plenty of advice and support - go to: www.datastormusers.com

Here's a photo of my setup.

nomads> I assume that "permanent on the roof" meant the RV, but if not DirectTV also does a satellite system that Larry mentioned for mounting on the house. The nice thing about either is that the parabolic dish that is used is much larger than normal sat dishes. Because of that TV signals are rarely blocked by any weather.

Yes I'm reffering to my RV roof. Since I don't have a stick house anymore. Some time whe are in remote areas with no TV or Internet. I believe that setup will work great. Thanks.
