They still hope to have it completed in 2019. Hmm.. we're told it's funded and designed, now they tell us something different. I'm doubtful it will be completed in 2019. An update was posted a month ago (December 2018). This is the most recent status that I have:

Wouldn't expect anything remotely resembling progress, let alone opening until earliest 2020 personally. We are stationed at Luke and drive by the Lot every day, will be here for next 2 yrs. If I see something will post something.

I just received information from a reliable source at Luke AFB that the contract for the NEW Famcamp construction was released last week. OFFICIAL UPDATE: Luke AFB AZ Famcamp

I have seen that the area has been fenced off and a construction trailer and heavy equipment onsite.
The surveying markers are out within the area.

I have also received this information and pictures via the Deputy Civil Engineer at Luke AFB.
The new Luke AFB FamCamp has broke ground and estimated completion is now set for April 2, 2020
Here are a few pics and have no idea why the cow was there. LOL

Update Nov 1, 2019
Well the good news is that installation is moving forward of utilities underground.
The BAD news is that all the marked utilities are being damaged by contractor not knowing how to read the marks on the ground and while digging damaged some of the utilities already installed.

Some delay and I will let you know if that changes completion date next year.

My husband and I went over to check out the progress on the FamCamp at Luke AFB today . We could see the utilities for the sites are in and where the roads are going to be. They are putting the roof on a building in the middle that I assume will be the bathhouse. There is still a lot to do before it can open.

Was on Luke AFB today and they are working and making progress slowly.
The central building which may be a office and/or bathroom shower building has wall and a roof.
I saw 3 rows of rv spaces and two of the rows have concrete pads on them.

Sorry no pictures this time and no idea when it will be completed.
My personal guess the way things are moving along I suspect by the end of the year but still may be sooner.

Sorry my friends for not updating the information about the new construction of ther Luke AFB Arizona Famcamp.

I was by there mid July and seems all the spaces have concrete pads in place.
All the utilities seem to be already installed and I think the next thing will be the roadways inside the park and the entrance.

This Famcamp will be larger then even I thought. My guess is over 100 spaces.
Very impressed with what I saw so far.

I will keep you posted in a few with pictures.
My guess on opening may be a few more months just about the time things cool off here. Oct 1st is my guess.
