The groundbreaking has begun on the NEW Famcamp on Luke AFB Glendale Arizona. I have been told it will be completed in 2018 but no solid date.
This campground has a design that was from many RVers to help design a GREAT Famcamp. The main access will be using the Thunder Gate on Litchfield Blvd which is the commercial gate. The campground is well situated across from the Gas station and east of the Commissary and Exchange. (Walking distance). It is also a block from the Clinic and the Satellite Pharmacy pickup building.
The Famcamp will have lots of wide pull-thrus with full hookups in all. Water, Sewer, 30 & 50 Amp electric. Being the wifi at the commissary and exchange is open and free I see no reason they also add wifi in the campground.
All sites will have a direct clear southern exposure for Satellite and no need for cable as you will have plenty of local channels from Phoenix coming from South Mountain about 20 miles away.
I'm looking forward in giving you updates as things progress.

Thanks! We heard years ago that this new FamCamp was funded, but I hadn't received any updates since. Glad it's happening!

Good news! Thanks for the update, but there's no video attached. There's a limit on the size of attachments, which may be the cause.

I will take a few pictures next time I head to Luke AFB.
The actual design is impressive for what I have seen on paper and should be one Famcamp that is designed right for the RVers and not by someone who sits behind his desk as a design engineer who has no experience what a great campground needs.
We will keep you posted.
Oh by the way today we will be in about 75 degrees and sunny skies so far.

... this is why I was a cop. Ill see if I can crop something out. The spot is cleared, former base housing remnants are removed. Land is flat but not finished with power boxes delivered with some installed.

Just was on Luke AFB this morning and the field that will have the new Famcamp is getting a final grading.
Next will be the site surveyors to mark out utilities routes, roadway and RV spaces.

Will keep you posted here if I see any further progress..

Any time frame for opening yet?

I think that's an old satellite photo. The houses are already gone. Yes, they plan to put in RV pads and buildings.

Nothing recent - unless someone else has updated info.

Just was at Luke AFB and actually the new Famcamp area has some action going on.
They have piles of large rocks all around the area.
Maybe they plan on protecting all the electrical panels with them so no one hits them. lol
or
Maybe they will put at the edge of your pad so you don't drive on the grass and break the sprinkler system and cause ruts.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Was on Luke today 10/17/18 and they have all the big rocks up against the back fence. They haven't done much else.
Really looking forward to this famcamp opening.

Was at Luke a couple of weeks ago. Nothing appears to be happening with the FamCamp. Anybody heard anything new? Maybe a email to FSS might shed some light on what is going on.
