We filed an ICE report using the AF on-line form. This is a military facility, This is the gist of what we said: We drive an RV with 13’4” vertical clearance . Upon entering Maxwell Air Force Base for our first visit, we were detoured because of road construction on the normal road to the RV park. Along the road, we encountered light scraping on the roof because of the trees covering the roadway, then closer to the...

JBSA is one of our "places to go to." We enjoy the RV park and the staff managing it, The staff has always been pleasant to work with. We always have a good time here. The easy access to San Antonio and the surrounding area is excellent. Canyon Lake Dam, River Road drive. New Braunfels, Groene (pronounced Green) are only a few on our list of places to visit. Don't forget to tour The Missions,...

Getting here is the trick and the instructions are pretty much on. One item since the original instructions is the gate has been moved to just before the "circle." I found that the if the address is 1018 St. Mihiel Rd. Port Royal, SC., that it will take me right to Bldg 1018 at the park, or pretty darn close by yards. However, my GPS wanted me to turn onto Saigon St. That is the old trailer park (wish...

The base is easy to find and the older park where we have visited on four occasions is just inside the gate. The sites are roomy and level, the park is clean, and office staff friendly. Shields is not in a rural location so normal city noises are to be expected. Granted, there are rules and regulations applicable to the base and park; however, we are grateful to be guests of our military installations and appreciate any regulations that...

WARNING: The directions say to use the North or the South Gate. According to the FAMCAMP that is incorrect. Only the South Gate at exit 150 should be used. Reason: The North Gate is a visitors gate and by visitor anyone with picture ID can get in that gate to attend football games etc. If something should happen to put the base on alert the North Gate will close and you will be made to turn around. Trust me,...

There is no pool but there is an ocean. The NAS has done a fantastic job renovating this camp ground. KUDOS to them. The directions are right on except that the first stop light street is Goldie so if you are looking for a street name of Charles Porter it doesn't start until you go through the gate. When turning right at the first stop light on Goldie the gate is about 100 yards ahead. We arrived on a...

This is a well run and clean facility with spacious pull through sites. Reservations were easy by telephone. Upon arrival one can choose a site based on availability. Laundry is free and the bathrooms were very clean. Convenient to Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Venture and Point Mugu. Sightseeing is convenient along the coast not withstanding traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway. Add to directions if traveling the 101, exit #64 - Victoria Ave, Turn left on W Channel island...

I submitted an ICE review but it never got posted so here is that same review: We have never visited a recreational park that more closely resembles a trailer park than Camp Pendleton's Lake O'Neill Recreation Park. This park in no way passes for a recreational vehicle park. It is mainly a permanent personnel residence with little to offer visitors. There are few full hookups, so reservations for a site with sewer must be made long...

This is a new RV park with generous spaces and clean facilities. The park is an easy drive to Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and King's Dominion. The treed parkways surrounding this area make driving to these destinations relaxing and pleasurable. The drawback to this idyllic location is the lack of WiFi connectivity and cell phone connectivity using ATT. It was stated to me that they are in the middle of two towers. Approval has been granted to erect...

This new park is a jewel with its generous spaces and well kept premises. The staff members are extremely accommodating and friendly, the showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities are clean. Bring your kayak or canoe and take advantage of Pelican Point's waterway, a short drive from the RV park. Base stickers are not needed to enter this facility. We did use the main gate but others at the RV Park indicated they used Slocum with only their ID...

Although there appear to be a number of full time campers at this park, the sites were well maintained and there were ample spaces for recreational use. Spaces are generous and well spaced and the campground is in a serene area inside a base housing area. The unofficial camp host, Doc, greets visitors with information packets and a helping hand should one be needed. A good area to go sight seeing in the historic areas.

This is a quiet campground with clean and spacious restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Sites are back-in and generously spaced. There are no shade trees. Be prepared for a delay at the rotary. Upon arrival at PI, our vehicles were fully examined by security and we certainly support these measures. The next two days in and out of that same gate there were not inspections. This is a good place to tour Beufort and other...

This is a very quiet campground with clean and spacious restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, and generous pull-through sites. Laundry was free and the machines were clean and functioned properly. Bright lights make one feel safe from gators in the adjacent lake. Staff members are helpful. Finding restaurants in the area is challenging using GPS POI as many places are permanently closed. We camped in a 40-foot motorhome with tow car.

We stayed in a 40 foot MH in a back-in site. No problem maneuvering into the site. The roads to the site could have some tree trimming performed. This is a nice recreation area if you are into kayaking, sailing, boating, etc. It is definitely a quiet area and far removed from shopping and other areas. The area was clean, and the hospitality was very good. Our overall experience was very good and the value is...

This is our second time here in a 40' motorhome. The sites are spacious with a separate indent in the pad for TOAD parking with about 25' of grass area between pad sites. From the gate security forces to the occupants of the RV park, everyone has been friendly. The office personnel were friendly and helpful. This is a very nice park to spend some time to rest and enjoy the area. It is an easy stepping-off point for...
